dalius Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Yeah, it definitely wasn't the large pub-club i expected. Everyone must be locking themselves down at home trying to avoid SARS Definitely liked the ZOO though. 1st time there. Quote
allison Posted April 2, 2003 Author Posted April 2, 2003 Hmm...I was just thinking that the parking is a huge pain in the ass, and they don't serve food. Quote
dalius Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Whatchu talkin' 'bout? Â There was plenty of parking right in front of the place when I showed, and didn't you see the pistachio dispenser on the bar by the taps? Sheesh! Quote
allison Posted April 2, 2003 Author Posted April 2, 2003 When I got there at 8, parking was tight. Last time I went there for Pub Club I got a parking ticket. Â They also have Cheetos at the Zoo. Icegirl tried to foist hers on me! Quote
klenke Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 A friend of mine invited me over to his place to watch the Opening Night Mariners game. In hindsight I should have gone to pub club instead because the game was lame. But the grilled steaks we had for food were not lame. Quote
icegirl Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I guess timing is everything as far as parking at the Zoo is concerned... I got there at 8:30, and there was ample parking. Â How about sometime we have a "Pizza Party Pub Club" beer, pizza, and the minors could attend... Maybe Zeke's pizza or something like that (up on Phinny) they used to be open rather late... Quote
Squid Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 better yet, let's have a Hot Tub Pub Club- more alliterative bang for your buck. Quote
Norman_Clyde Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 If pizza is on the ballot, I vote for MAD pizza in Fremont, or better still, the new MAD in Lake City. The Lake City place is a lot bigger. I know, I never show up anyway, but if I can get pizza there, I'll skip dinner after work and go to Pub Club directly. Quote

Good idea, your in charge of finding a cool place. Quote
icegirl Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Do we want to do it on a tuesday, normal pub club day, or another day of the week? Â I will be taking suggestions, and checking locals. Pizza Pizza Pizza. Â Maybe I should go get some lunch. all this talk of Pizza... Quote
dalius Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 For future pub clubs: good place for food and beer is the Elysian brewpub in cap. hill. i'm pretty sure that they let in minors because it is a restaurant, but I'm not positive. I imagine it's probably not all that crowded on Tues. nights. They may have pizza as well. Quote
icegirl Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 We have had at least two PC's since I've been attending at the Elysian... It seems to work well. Quote
Norman_Clyde Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I vote to have it on a Thursday sometime soon. Quote
allison Posted April 2, 2003 Author Posted April 2, 2003 I think we should do something on a Thursday sometime so that Dr. Clyde can attend. Â There has been a request from Distel32 to do something where the young kids can attend, I suggest Carkeek Park would be nice when it gets a little warmer, but before skool lets out. The police presence is allegedly less than at GG. Quote
catbirdseat Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 I like the restaurant idea on a Thursday. I think it would be cool to see some of the young climbers, like colin, cracked, distel32, and others. Quote
iain Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 judging by the conversations around here these days you should hold it at Thunderdome. Quote
AlpineK Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Thunderdome is only big enough for 2 people, and only one gets out. Quote
Dr_Flash_Amazing Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Squid said: better yet, let's have a Hot Tub Pub Club- more alliterative bang for your buck. Â That's rhyming bang for your buck. Alliteration is where the words start with the same letter or sound, e.g. prostitutes pander to pixilated pub patrons, preferring to ply partiers for paying pants-play over a police pat-down in the paddywagon, or worse a proper pounding at the precinct. Â Quote

Distel32 Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 Thanks to all those who are considering and coming up with ideas for a pub club somewhere that us youngsters could attend. Zeke's on phinny is a good idea, but as long as minors are let in I'll go wherever everyone wants to meet. Thanks allison, CBS, and icegirl for bringing it up! Quote
icegirl Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 alrighty then, how soon do we want to get this pizza show on the road? this thursday, next? Quote
minx Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 why not do it on a normal tuesday pubclub night? you can drink beer in most pizza places? you'd prolly get a better crowd that way Quote
icegirl Posted April 2, 2003 Posted April 2, 2003 'cause most pizza places won't take kindly to the drunken debauchery that ensues after one too many pitchers... Think of thursdays as a kinder gentler pub club... (a moderated one?) Quote
allison Posted April 2, 2003 Author Posted April 2, 2003 Dr. Clyde never makes it becasue Tuesdays are tough for him. Quote
