allison
Got a ? for you....is it possible/kosher to put a splitter on the computer output that my digicam cable/scanner/wireless mouse and keyboard go out of? I have two outputs on the back of my computer, but own three devices that need to get in there. I don't know what kind of port that is, it's got a wee small connector. If it matters, I'm on a fairly new PC, running XP. If this is possible and won't cause me problems, promise not to run the scanner and the camera at the same time, those are the ones that would share the splitter. Thx. Fejas
If they are USB ports or plugs, than you can buy a dock that will plug in and allow you two more or eight more what ever you need...
ChrisT
usb hub...we've got about 5 devices hooked to ours.
allison
Yah, OK USB, got that part..now can you run more than one device at a time out of it or is that bad? Forgive me for the dumb questions, computers are a great mystery to me.
ChrisT
from the usb hub we run the scanner, zip drive, printer and digital camera...all at the same time. The cd burner, iPod and camcorder run form the firewire and those we switch out as necessary. The usb hub is just expanding your usb port so it shouldn't be a problem to have them all plugged in at the same time.
Fejas
If you have enough Ram you should be able to run all of them at the same time... keep in mind that the more software you have open at on time the slower your comp. works... jkrueger
If it doesn't work, just jiggle the cord. That's everything you will ever need to know about computers.

Not one Trojan horse, pop up or piece of spam in any of my 25 email addresses. Can't recommend it enough.

allthumbs
Except with Norton; you have to turn everything off to receive any programs via e-mail... (fire wall that is) Not true at all. Just fuck with the settings a bit and all is well. I never have to turn anything off. (but then again I don't solicit email from the porn industry like some people I know). Dr_Flash_Amazing
Just back from Office Despot....looked at USB hubs...for 40 clams, I'll keep crawling under my desk to change the cords out! You can get them for less money than that. Anyway, you're fuckin' lazy!
Toast
Allison, just get a long USB cable. Rather than climbing under your desk and inhaling dust bunnies to change out cables, you can use the long cable to plug into your various peripherals. allison
Toost, you are a genius! I see cheap hubs at pczone.com, but the long cable idea is delicious. And BTW, DFA, I'm not lazy, I have been on #@%%&!!! Vicodin on and off for a week now for a %$^&!!!! back injury, haven't been able to work (OR SKI), and have no energy. If I am lazy, blame the narcotics. It was nice to be on the stuff for about 2 hours on the first day, and now it's poky scrambled eggs brain. I especially don't like crawling under my desk with this back thing!
