DPS Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 Does anybody know what type of winter to expect this year (e.g. El Nino, La Nina, Pineapple Express)? Quote
ivan Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 dunno, but based on the past 3 weeks, i'm gonna go w/ "wet" Quote
genepires Posted September 20, 2019 Posted September 20, 2019 according to NOAA long range outlooks https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/predictions/multi_season/13_seasonal_outlooks/color/churchill.php winter looks a little above normal temps and normal precip. Quote
DPS Posted September 21, 2019 Author Posted September 21, 2019 I checked Cliff Mass' blog and the bottom line for me was 'no reason not to buy a season ski pass'. Quote
mike1 Posted September 21, 2019 Posted September 21, 2019 Check out http://support.nwac.us/nsaw/ “Nick Bond, JISAO, Principal Research ScientistOutlook for the Winter of 2019-20 in the Pacific NW - Even a Blind Squirrel Sometimes Finds a Nut” Quote

I buy one even on horrible predicted years. Shitty day on the hill is 1000% better than sitting at home. even in years where it was predicted to be warm and dry turned out to be pretty OK seasons overall. but warm and normal precipitation could mean some good alpine tromping times. Warm and dry better. Quote
bigeo Posted September 23, 2019 Posted September 23, 2019 Buy that pass. https://cliffmass.blogspot.com Quote
DPS Posted September 25, 2019 Author Posted September 25, 2019 bigeo, we need to climb/ski something together. It has been too long since our last trip to East Willman's Spire. Quote
bigeo Posted September 25, 2019 Posted September 25, 2019 I've been thinking the same thing. PMed you. Quote
