Dwayner Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I like football about as much as I like sport-climbing.....i.e., I don't. Anybody else think the Stupor Bowl is lame? I'm getting in my car and heading toward the rainy peaks. Even the drive is better than being around a bunch of pepped-up, nacho-swillin', touch-down high-fivin', beer-spillin'-on-the-couch yellin', $10-bettin', loud-mouths shouting at a television screen. Don't this look fun: YAWNNN!!!!!! Quote
chosspile Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Dwayner, were you dropped on your head as a child? Clearly something's amiss with your thought process. Quote
Dwayner Posted January 26, 2003 Author Posted January 26, 2003 Icegirl! You comin' with me? Uh....probably not....you're, uh, probably watching the superbowl with your real friends. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Dwayner, bring a wet suit and surf board. You'll need it. Meanwhile, back at the game..... what would the Boz do? Quote
ChrisT Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 damn! I'm not turning up those kind of shots on my searches wish this was the StuporBowl: Quote
gapertimmy Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 i'm with dwayner on this one. in fact, if it weren't for the board, i wouldn't even know who's playing. shows you how much espn i watch Quote
ChrisT Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I most likely will not watch since I *hate* TV but I'll experience it vicariously through the shouts, whoops and yelps from the family room Quote
allthumbs Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 That's alright Timmy, we forgive ya. I started playing football in little league and quite enjoyed pummeling the shiz outta people for about 9 years till I graduated high school. It's in my blood. Quote
cracked Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 While I disagree with Dwayner that sport climbing is ALL bad, I must agree with him on the stupor bowl issue. I still don't know who's playing, and I really don't care. I think it would be hilarious to tape some idiots yelling at the screen and dancing war dances, edit out the sound, and play it for them. If you take away the setting, their antics are embarrassing as all hell. Quote
North_by_Northwest Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Either way a buncha pirates are gonna win. Goddamn pirates. http://pratt.edu/~alexrich/ninjas/movies/ninja2.html Quote
catbirdseat Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Dwayner, I already did my rain slog yesterday with klenke (see Lewis Peak TR). I'm sore and tired and I'm actually looking forward to hanging out with wayne1112 in front of a TV and drinking beers. If the game gets boring, we can always swap climbing stories or play on his climbing wall. I made delicious lemon squares to bring in case anyone develops a sweet tooth. Quote
E-rock Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I will not ridicule anyone for having fun. Yesterday I had a group of UW football player on my Whidbey Island field trip who were very disruptive and noisy. But they were having more fun than me, and I couldn't give them a hard time about it. If people have fun watching a football game every so often, while hanging out with good friends and family, why should that piss you off? Quote
glen Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I made delicious lemon squares to bring in case anyone develops a sweet tooth. Not often that you hear about TR's and baking lemon squares in the same paragraph. ... Personally, the bouldering sounds better to me. I also think that E-rock has this one pegged though. Another way of looking at it is that the stupor-bowl provides a great chance to do shit on a weekend without all the crowds. If it wasn't raining, I'd probably be cutting turns in some bowls of my own today. Instead, I think I'll go spin some cranks on a mysteriously empty Burke Gilman. Seems pretty good to me. Quote
tomcat Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I'm watching the Super Bowl right now (GO RAIDERS!!!) because I'm not climbing. I'd much rather be climbing mountains, but not in the rain. Quote
allthumbs Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 Well this f'ing game is over. What a screwed up weekend. Quote
cracked Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 It's getting cold (er)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Predicted low 29 at Rainqualmie for tomorrow!!!!!!! Pray for Cold! Quote
ChrisT Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 He means the Raiders are down by two touchdowns and according to the stats NO team has come back from that kind of deficit in something like 500 years so pray for a miracle... (too many damn commercials IMO although I enjoyed the FedEx takeoff on castaway) Quote
