  5. GB, What I heard on the MRNP SAR Hotline was that the other two ascended to the summit ridge searching for their lost partner. That is, the crater rim, and not the actual summit. That's how I read that.
  6. I placed a call to MRNP's SAR Hotline this morning, and picked up the following tidbits from Leigh Taylor's (Park Information Officer) recorded message: As of 1845 hours, Saturday, July 3, the search for 57-year-old Eric Lewis of Duvall, WA, has been concluded (the message states that this message is the "final update" to the search) with no further clues as to his whereabouts and/or disposition. Helos and ground searchers from the Park, some of the guide services, and Olympic Mountain Rescue scoured the Nisqually Icefall and Gibraltar Chutes areas, as well as the party's climbing route. The search has been "scaled back substantially" to normal climbing ranger patrols. Ms. Taylor concluded her message by saying that the Park's Incident Commander feels confident that their search would have found him "if he were on the surface", which suggests to me he ended up in a crevasse. His partners were interviewed by the rangers, and more details can be found by calling the MRNP SAR Hotline at 360-569-2211 and selecting "9" then "2" from the menu for search operations. The message is 4 minutes long. My condolences to his family and friends, as this one appears to have ended sadly.
  7. Good luck unloading those permits, and welcome to the board!
  8. It's the last forum in the section entitled "The Rack." Go up to "forums" on the left-ish side of the bar near the top of the page, click on it, then scroll down until you see The Rack, then it's the last selection in that section. I see where there's a bazillion folks looking for MSH permits for July 17. You shouldn't have too tough of a time unloading those tickets...
  9. Hey Joe, You should post this in the Permit Exchange Forum on this board. You'll get more exposure in that forum than in here. Your post in this forum will get buried in a day or so. Or mebbe one of the mods will move it fer ya...

    Paragliding

See how little i know about this? I think just being up in the air is fuq'n cool. Yup, I'm white, single, and debt-free now. Gotta lot of catchin' up to do for these past few years of serfdom. I will start enjoying life again...
  12. SS- Here's your pics in their full glory. Nicely done; 3 Cascade highpoints in a week.
  13. Hmmmmmmmmm, you might just have something there, rob...

    Paragliding

Hey, Dane, thanks! I came across them in my googling, but didn't have any background beta on them. Do you know those guys at all? Reputable and safe? And no worries about motion sickness. I  rollercoasters and amusement park rides, but I can't read in the back seat of a moving car. Did skydiving BITD, and have also tandemed a couple times in a hang glider. Paragliding just seems like more fun, so I wanna give it a go.

Man that looks FUN! Reminds me of how it feels to fly in my dreams. You do that, too, Sherri? I am always having dreams where self-propelled flying (and also falling from great heights and recovering before the splat) are the recurring theme. That's why I think those wingsuits are so [video:youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4U6T_BB1N8&feature=related

That was cool. Thanks for the link, Mr. Granite! Will have to ask if they do tandems.

    Paragliding

Thanks, Don. I knew that at one time there was an outfit operating out of E-burg (it's always so f'n windy there), but I don't think that they're in business anymore. A google search takes one to a link that hasn't been updated since 1999, which is when I first got interested in this form of transport/fun. More research is warranted... Wow, I read the link you provided. RIP Jeff Splitbgerber. And also the article linked at the end of the article by Bruce Tracy that leads to his remembrance, written by our very own Lowell Skoog. Sounds like Jeff and Bruce were top tier human beings. RIP both - ride the wind forever, gentlemen.
  18. Righteous pics! How do I get a date with Sunny?
  19. I'll take that to mean that I'm a good fuck, apparently... Damn, these late night returns from dates being half-lit without getting laid have gotta stop!!!

Clue me in, too. I've been wanting to try that for about 10 years now. Just haven't gotten around to researching it much. Now that I'm single again, I have the time and $$$ to give it a go. I just want to start with the tandem thing to see how I like it.
  21. Funny as hell, but c'mon, guys. It's all about MARCIN today!!!1
  22. SO WHERE ARE THE FUQ'N PICS, MARCIN??? HUH??? Good gawd, am I drunk again again?
  23. WTF are you doing up at this time of night, Rudy??? Don't you have a wife to sleep with? BTW, we are at 10 pages. Global warming can now be discussed in this thread. Carry on.
