buttwad! I went to Houston to work. Sucked. Came back to VT a changed man.

I did indeed live in Lee (5th Floor Psychos), for all of about half a quarter. Never came back after Thanksgiving break. But I resigned after the "no penalty" date. When I came back in '83, I was working up from a 0.0 GPA, instead of down from a 4.0 like everyone else.

I soooooo don't remember anything from that first trip to VT in '79. I was so bound up in mind-altering substances that I don't really remember quitting. My memory was horribly refreshed by the Dean of Admissions in '83, tho...

So, did you enjoy FORTRAN with punchcards as much as I did (NOT!)? On my first stint at VT in '79, doped up on coke, I dropped my stack of cards in the middle of the drill field on the way over to the mainframes. It was a windy night... I just turned around, went back to my dorm, and decided I didn't want to go to college anymore. Next phase of life, please.

Yep, many times, and I'm still around. Any foo' knows that if ya got solid shank cams, that you sling it trough the hole in the shank that's closest to the cams. Reduces the moment arm (leverage) thereby reducing the chance of snapping the shank. I've still got (and use) my first set of WC Friends (ca. 1985) that have seen many a whoppin'whipper, and no broken shanks (or bones) yet!

If the weather stays the way it's been (warm), plan on camping (if not going in a day) on the ridge above the top of the Turtle, ~10k. Hazard will be a bowling alley, as it has been recently. The NPS has been warning against camps at Hazard.
