  1. Your just defending your unsound opinion based on your feelings. How liberal of you.
  2. How many of those bemoaning outsourcing cheer the rise in their 401k's?
  3. Which was worth absolutely nothing. Framses != Superior Crash performance - if they did, the mid size GM SUV's wouldn't suck in crashes so bad, would they.
  4. What exactly does one expect from Bogus Basin?
  5. You can also pick up copies of a Climber's Guide to Oregon at the Multnomah County Public Library. They've got several, and much better hours than the Mazamas.
  6. As others said... They sunk to a new low though. Returning the bike fenders that came without the required mounting parts(3 out of 4 struts, not enough screws), the counter girl marked them "Return to Stock"
  7. Place ski on floor. Find places front & rear where ski touches floor. This is the chord length - 1/2 is chord center.

I probably won't be able to make Friday - I can bring a "recharge" up Saturday if anyone has anything in particular they'd like.
  9. There are only 2 questions you need to know the answer to: 1) Do I ever want to use Dyanfit bindings? (if you don't know what they are, probably not yet) 2a)If you do, find the best fitting boots from Scarpa/Garmont/Dynafit 2b)If you don't, find the best fitting boots from Scarpa/Garmont/Dynafit/Lowa With the exception of the Dyanfit MLT all of the boots out there are burly enough for skiing anything on rando sticks, or most alpine gear. If your interested in skiing at high speeds, with big skis - you'll know which boots you want.
  10. This seems the big attraction to me of the new wide range camming units - instead of owning a couple sets of cams - own one. Is their any good reason (aside from pride, simplicity & cost) you wouldn't want the most versatile pro period?
  11. Gary Hemming? I think he committed suicide before it filmed. Even if he was alive htat would have fallen into the soloing era. He's not credited either. Hamish MacInnes is... http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072926/fullcredits
  12. I dunno. The manager in the ski section at USOC is nice and knowledgeable, as is the aforementioned climber upstairs. Most of the retail shops in PDX are a mixed bag - some are nice and knowledgeable, some rehash verbatim product data sheets, some are clueless (except for REI, they blow, most of them work there for the "scene") I can only look forward to the Pearl District REI
  13. He's a real poseur Never contributes All around jerk who never is nice to complete strangers Never gives out good beer
  14. Jon- He was diagnosed with cancer just after he signed with Cofidis. Cofidis paid his bills even though they had no clue the status of his health - they just asked for a doctors checkup(one of the conditions necessary for a valid contract). Not unreasonable for $1.25 million a year! Instead of the Drs visit they compromised for Lance racing in 4 races in the '97 season - or they had the right to cancel the contract. He didn't - they walked.
  15. You mean this one? That's 2m aka 6 feet. I'd be interested to know if there burial data includes cars & structures. If someone's buried 6 feet deep you've got alot of digging.
  16. You be a loooooooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnng ways from the peak on the south side - according to the Forest Service - rd 80 be closed: http://www.fs.fed.us/gpnf/recreation/current-conditions/roads.shtml
  17. Go ahead from who? Their are a few more hurdles for them to jump through just yet...as for T-Line and SkiBowl, I'll believe it when I see it. They'll have enough obstacles integrating Summit. You've been able to ski all the way from T-Line to govy for 70? years now - your gondola just looks like a car, and your thumbs a lift tickey!
  18. The Gunks Guide - T Swain. Online checkout gunks.com
  19. 'ole one nut isn't the best person to lecture on class - his slagging on Cofidis - WHO PAID HIM WHILE HE HAD CANCER! is disgusting to me. How dare they ask for a medical exam!
  20. The have problems with those too. I was there last year - and the guys upstairs were claiming that people died doing a pendulum jump because they used static rope and not dynamic
  21. The "long" refers to the length of the bar running under your foot, so yes they need different holes.
  22. If MEC doesn't have it checkout The Mountaineer (www.mountaineer.com) in Keene Valley. They have guidebooks from around the world too. Expensive dreams.
  23. Chapel Pond has low rated ice. Also check out Cascade Pass and Avalanche Pass. If your coming from the North, the Mt. Washington Region won't be any quicker to get to - and you'd be driving by all the good ice in Vermont. Lake Placid also has more scenic things to do with the GF other than climbing.
  24. If you've never checked out neice.com - it has much of what your looking for, along with recent photos. The Hostel in Keene Valley's nice and cheap.
  25. Indeed. He was in select company winning the Giro, and the Tour in the same year.
