  1. But you can't use your cellphone at the Rogue!
  2. That sounds similar to my situation - I'd be interested to see your feedback.
  3. Anyone had a chance to check out the Vision yet? I'm considering picking one up.
  4. I've had the exact opposite experience with 4 prs of lightweight Salmon Hikers. They suck. Poorly made, don't last more than a couple months. I went through 2 pairs of Raidwinds in 3 days (stupid eyelets!) Exum Ridge's are nice, as are LS Hyper's (discontinued I believe). I never wear hi-tops unless I'm carrying a pack & the terrain is rough. Spending money on reasonable quality shoes is worth it - don't continue to hike in crappy footwear (esp. worn out shoes). Eventually, it'll start to screw up your feet. And that sucks. Besides - you can get all of these for <$50 from Sierratradingpost, REI sales, etc.
  5. That somewhat jibs with what I saw. The first 7-8 miles were NPS grade trail, the next 4-5 weren't well marked, but easy going over flood plains. Of course at mile 12 there was a dump of a shelter, and about mile 15 there was a massive horse camp - complete with downed trees, etc. Real "wild"
  6. I went in the Queets River Valley this past year. Was actually very nice - turned around about 2k from the ridge that gives access. It'd be an excellent 4 day trip, too much for me in 3

    Tax Day !!

    No Tram!
  8. My holes are now several years old. They haven't grown. Leave'm alone.
  9. You'd rather listen to Beck? Who only uses CC.com to boost himself in the world
  10. I'm not sure about the former, but the later is certainly true. Most every school district requires a minimum GPA (often >>3.0) for college material for their teaching applicants. This wonderfully excludes those who may be very intelligent, but took courses of study other than the Liberal Arts, or who may not have been stimulated by the traditional learning environment.
  11. Again? They already were there (this was about the tiem they started to suck). Then they moved back to CA. Sewing is still a very labor intensive business - it's not particularly automated. I'm not sure what magic "fully automated" machines Josh is talking about - it's manual labor. Hard manual labor - and there aren't many in the US willing to do it anymore.
  12. A cool adjunct for route finding is USA Photomaps http://jdmcox.com/ It allows you to quickly toggle between USGS topos, and the aerial photos they are based on!
  13. The argument seems to be "charity for a cool dude"
  14. Is registration required to attend? Or just to speak?
  15. Clearly you've never seen people who are artists at their trade. Watch a good machinist sometime.
  16. Their Epic stuff is twice the price of Wild Things. I just don't see much innovative with their gear (aside from liberal use of zippers - which a seamstress can add for you, for less $) to justify their rather high price.
  17. Or Save $7, and support a better service http://dogbert.abebooks.com/servlet/BookDetailsPL?bi=249529558
  18. I don't know anything about Fabrizio. The company does seam to be heavy on hype. $159 for Epic pants? That's $100 more than Wild Things version! (which don't have zippers - but are 4oz lighter!) $195 for an Epic Jacket? That's $105 more than the Wild Things version - which it is identical in features to. There's always cut, but still....you can get modifications done, for a true custom cut, for less.
  19. Along those lines, Killerdeals.com has the Women's Golite Coal in S & M for $29! http://www.northernmountain.com/NMSMain.asp?Option=Detail&ID=WGOLITE+Coal%2C+02&Dept=CW&Cat=CW4&SubCat=CW41 For the women out there, and the men smaller than me.

I've a pair of Rossi DV6's to bring (one's in 2 pieces!). Summer time party.
  21. Is it open? Last time I was through I was told it'd been a couple of years since it last opened - there' always Taos. Closer to home the Jemez are
  22. Ya missed ice season! And the week before easter - with all the mega hot, mega rich chicas from Mexico City
  23. You sure it's not because what he's said has come back to haunt him? After all, if nobody hear's what you have to say that may give the impression your biased, are you giving the impression your biased?
  24. Yes. Metric or Stupid Units? Range?
  25. I was actually serious. Up until last April I skiied solely on Supercomps (or Snowfields!). I went looking for an increase in torsional rigidity, because 6 year older Supercomps weren't cutting it. I tried T2's (tele'd alright, couldn't extract performance I wanted) Looked at T1's & T-Race's - but the drawbacks of weight, size and lack of true touring ability made me choose AT gear. YMMV. I haven't looked back.
