  2. Photo's have been "manipulated" as long as there has been photography.
  3. I'm not familiar enough with the stuff to know how different the materials are (and a quick search didn't turn up good information). http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/to;ID;,Epoxy...Adhesives,Fillers.and.Thickeners lists a bunch of the different types. The microballons may work.
  4. By Silica Sand you mean something like Colloidal Silica/other fillers? If not check out your local boat shop and pick up some fillers. They also have wood powder which is nicer on the hands.
  5. There's also the magic of the internet!
  6. A Condi Rice booty call? We'd be better off if he did more Clinton style bomb dropping.

  8. I have the next one up (the Vision? - 20 degree. It's a nice bag, well made. Not as nice as an equivalent weight marmot, but not the price either. Mountainsmith got out of the bad business so the only ones around are leftovers.

    Cyclocross

You can buy a nice Cyclocross frame on eBay for $3-$400. I bought a Vicious Slide earlier this year for that. Handmade steel, better ride than Cannondale, etc., and built up with 105/Ultegra it cost less than the Cannondale/Kona/etc. and definitely better. I may do a couple cross races down south but they are dryer/less technical than the PNW races from what I gather.
  10. What mirrors are you talking about? A mirror simply produces non-diffuse reflection. There are plenty of others besides the Al/Silver backed one in your home. This includes those cool colored oakley sunglasses, polished gold, normal glass (a good mirror for some wavelength ranges), and a whole host of other configurations.
  11. Bullshit. The 20th century alone had E. Germany, Slovenia, Czechoslovakia, Russia (most recent only), Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, and thats just the short list. The US isn't as singular as your neocon addled mind would wish to believe.
  12. It's not the Maoists right now, its the mass protests and arrests in Kathmandu. Anyone have a rec for a 2 week or slightly less trek?
  13. We'd be better off a colony. As always spot on KK.
  14. "pump and dump" And no, I'm not talking about the hooker who gave you a handjob that you dropped off on the corner.
  15. There's no such thing as a perfect reflector.
  16. JayB your sanctimony about the liberal left is as tired as the vintage Che t-shirt worn by the apartchiks you bloviate about. Most people opining any ideology can't truly comprehend the world they want to create, nor would most want to live in the world they eventually created. The Atlas Shrugged toting masses would find it extremely tiresome to to pay for the full cost of their education, police force, etc. The Marxists would find it difficult maintain their recreational chemical consumption under the total state. Nothing new on those fronts. Hypocrisy is the 2nd oldest profession.
  17. How fatuous of you JayB I'd have liked to have been on the '53 everest expedition though I know I'd have only shuttled loads. There are thousands of events that merely being a participant in would be astounding.
  18. I must say you've pegged the inanometer. Lobbying, at it's most basic, is simply telling a representative your views on an issue. When you or I write to our representative we are lobbying them. Lobbyists are professionals at telling congress what someone wants. They understand the landscape, which politicians would be most interested in hearing about an issue and who not to waste their time with, and are better at it than you or I. Politicians often listen better with campaign donations - a market force at work. If you donate you'll experience this effect as well.
  19. Lobbying doesn't do shit? Protests don't matter? Your ignorance of our political system is showing. Lobbying influences policies in thousands of ways daily.
  20. Now I know why you didn't respond when I told you I loved you
  21. It's a parable of Canadian-American relations.
  22. Bumptly, bump for recommended treks in Nepal?

  25. Some other party proves they did it first. The same way all other first ascents are proven. There are a number of other peaks were an earlier ascent was probable, either by the whiteman or the Indian, and the first known ascending party gets the credit.
