Well I took the General (previously the revamped GENERAL 2000)to a farm, so it could drive around in the pasture with the other trucks. For those who knew it well, lets take a moment to reflet on it's glorious 350,000 miles of rootin' tootin' offroading life. Born in 1989 in a factory in Detroit, the General spent it's younger years driving the backroads and valleys of Leadville, Colorado. The property of a skilled mechanic, the General was kept in pristine condition, until it's adult life (150,000 miles) when it was sold to a pluck young man. Neither knew that this new relationship would take the young man to remote backroad locations and grand mountain vistas, and would take the General from a life of obscurity to a life of corporate whoring and domestic roadside violence. The young man would subjugate the General and brand it with corporate flare, then abuse it beyond it's clearance specification in backass Canada. It would be fored to commit murder, multiple roadside slaying of deer, mice, and insect genocide. The General has a brief moment of world-wide fame, appearing briefly in the movie "X-men," but recieving no credit or public recognition for it's role in that movie. The General would suffer further loss and cosmetic reconstruction as it lost 2 canopies on the same stretch of road, near Slesse Mtn. Now, with a full engine a week oil-leak, no parking brake, no power steering, a cracked windshield, broken stereo, no driver side window rolling wheel, broken side window locks, bent front axel, destroyed upholstery, a family of mice in the engine somewhre, torn passenger side seatbelt, and a broken gas guage, the General 2000 Lives On in our hearts and memories...replaced by a reasonabley priced and sensible Toyota Camry.

Good point. but the healthy ones don't either. Look at ultra marathoners from Kenya. They are in great health and beat us barefoot or running with spare-tire tread tied to their feet every time.

I will get you the references tomorrow if possible.

Exercise science degree? Cent. Wash. University?

Don't get me wrong on the PTs. They know their shit too. I think the two professions should merge, be accredited by the AMA and be doctors of manual medicine. -

Yeah that guys sounds like a freak. Plent of MD's do just as outragous shit, you just don't badmouth the entire profession-just that person. As for difficulty: it's a small town with several schools of medicine. The OHSU folks seem to think the 1st 4 years aren't as bad as ours. That said, their residency sounds like a bitch. There are stupid people who sneak through in any school. But yeah, I don't know anyone (although there are a few) who's done both. -

Yes....and no. It's easy to get into, but extremely hard once you get in. Prepare to have no life for 4 years of hard-core studying. It's as hard, if not harder than medical school. The reason I chose it was because you have a little bit more scope of practice than a PT (thus the Dr. part...different than a doctorate of PT). You can either put the education to good use and do all the things you've learned from both degrees to a vast array of exercise related injuries in any part of the body in addition to diseases, or you can be a high volume back cracker....you're call. The cons are you get shit on a lot, and the pay isn't as good as being an M.D., but the hours and lifestyle are WAY more chill than being an MD, the pay is much better than a PT, and as I last checked, there were 50 open positions in Seattle. Check out Western States Chiropractic College's website www.wschiro.edu and check out the curriculum. I am VERY happy I chose chiropractic over physical therapy...still not sure if I'd rather have gone the M.D. route, but when I get my practice boomin' I'm sure I'll be glad I'm not stuck working long hours at a hospital. -

That route is really fun, but honestly I liked Eagle Dance better. -
You should do Zero gully now, it's a really fun route. Better early season though.

I got my exercise science degree from Western and it was a very good program..plus the campus and the town can't be beat. -
The Prude Climber: This humorless climber generally has a scowl on her face and lurks at ANY opportunity to be offended and turn something into a sexist debate. (Note the complete inability to laugh at herself, or a whimsical breakdown of the female climbing culture). Body type is usually man-ish, and although her mamilarry proturberences may be profound, the stocky nature of the beast is necessary to support her girthy legs and chest.

PT is NOT an easier field to get into. The logo-embossed Polo-shirt wearing quasi-intellectual research and masturbatory holyier than thou art attitudes in the exercise science and PT (and yes chiropractic too) is so goddamn annoying it makes me want to just stick to push-ups, pull-ups, squats, sit-ups and trail runs, each meat potatoes and vegies, get a good nights sleep and call it good. -
