Those goats are from Horseshoe Ranch in Arkansas's premier climbing/bouldering area. Mid July is an UNRECCOMENDED time to go there, although the goats are in season.

"Screw the Cascades," was pretty much the 1st thing that crossed my mind after about twenty minutes into the approach. Yeah, they are all from the Cirque in the S. range. Walls and ridges of granite EVERYWHERE. Those bigger climbs I posted pics of are actually closer than stuff like wolf's head and Pingora. Very EZ approach. 14 hour drive from PDX, 3-5 hours hike in. Pretty much the only downside to the joint is the mosquitos and thunderstorms. We only brought a tarp, so we had a nice 5am wake up each morning with a buzzing alarm going off in the ear hole.

Well so far my summer has sucked, 3 major failures + moving + visiting the GF's parents in Missouri for 3 weeks. So along the way (of course we drove) I had a slight detour in the Winds. Not knowing that the GF is more hardcore than a vast majority of my sniveling, bailing, whining climbing parters, I was blown away by her ability to not only climb very well, but to know her shit after 5 years since her last climb with outward bound. She didn't belive me when I told her this tidbit, but then again, she hasn't climbed with any of my partners. Not that this place really needs any more visitors, fuck it, here's a photo onslaught:

Bulging/slightly herniated L5/S1 (Disc)
layton replied to hubris's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
i was only able to vent my frustration with your comment in about <2min of usable computer time. when in doubt, the word fuck and asshole works good enough. glassgowkiss is right on the money. severe motor loss or progessive neuro deficits are of course candidates for surgery and a chiro or PT that claims otherwise is in it all for the $$. But w/o other symptoms the odds of it being a buldging disc (even if it does show on the MRI) causing you pain, is 50/50 since a lot of people w/o any symptoms have had buldging discs show up on an MRI taken for something else. As far as the Chiro/PT debate. 1. chiropractors can diagnose, which is huge, since you really should know what you are treating, and MD's typically misdiagnose musculoskeletal problems, or take forever in a trial and error way to diagnose them. This is why chiropractors have the D for doctor in their letters (D.C.). 2. chiropractors are a good conservative doctor to go see first. a chiropractor (since they can diagnose) will be able to tell if the problem needs an immediate referral or not. If not, then why not go see one for a week to a couple months, to see if they can successfully treat your condition? Wouldn't you rather not go under the knife or have to take drugs that usually don't address the problem, only the symptoms? Plus, adjustments are a hell of a lot safer than any sort of drug, and way way safer than surgery. 3. chiropractors don't only adjust the spine or extremities, although that is their nich (probably because it works great on low back pain and low back pain is the number two reason anyone goes to the doctor...number one being a cold..). If yours does only adjust, either that's what you only need (doubtful) or they are lazy and greedy. This is a problem with a person, not a profession. MD's do the same thing...it's called their script pad. Anyway, depending on what state allows what, chiros have a huge arsenal of treatment options that they can use, including every and all PT modalities. I would like to elaborate more on the specifics of what a chiropractor could and can do for low back pain, especially a disc problem, but i'm outta time. sorry for calling you a motherfucker, i was stuck in Missourri for a few weeks, and needless to say, in a foul mood. The "quack" comment didn't help. -

Bulging/slightly herniated L5/S1 (Disc)
layton replied to hubris's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
Hey fuck you asshole. Get some non-biased information before you trash on someone's profession. It's motherfuckers like you that keep me on the defensive everytime I mention what I'm doing. Teasing folks about what they do is one thing, but you are a total fucking asshole. -

Your GP is plain wrong. Also, what happens isn't that the disc "dries up". It is re-absorbed, and sometimes "goes back in" depending on the severity of the herniation. I can't belive folks who will trust going to a PT over a chiropractor when chiropractors have so much more training on this issue especially. do whatever you want (sorry i don't have time to type more) -

go to a chiropractor, they are your BEST bet for this case. ask around, and try to find one with a flexion/distraction table!!! (i see you are canadian, a chiro may be harder to find....still seek one out) -
you'd be fine. it's very sandy/light gravel and quick. but clipping your shoes to your harness isn't that bad on this route, even with the chimney/ow

dang it i wished it checked this thread before it was ruined. Hey, bwrts. Any more info on that dihedral? pm me if you don't want it public. looks cool, but also looks to have the potential for not being so coo.

I need a place to store my girlfriend for the summer, maybe longer. She's got a very sweet cat. If you also happen to be hiring someone that has an organic chemistry degree , you are also in luck, she's got that too.

[TR] Squamish Apron- Unfinished Symphony 7/2/2006
layton replied to fern's topic in British Columbia/Canada
nice fern! that's my favorite climb at squamish! -
sweet! I tried that line 3 times, twice got fogged/rained out, 3rd time got 1/2way up the face and lost in a sea of cracklessness. Way to push through regardless and get the route! Pics? I've heard that the NF Direct route got beefed up a bit with some extra pins/bolts.

Depends on the route. In Red Rocks, tying knots at the end will ensure an epic. You've got as good a chance dying while pussiking up a stuck rope that could just be the tape on the ends holding the thing in place as you do sliding off the ends. I rarely tie knots in the ends since stuck ropes are more than just an annoyance, the can seriously fuck you over too. The safest thing to do is to use an short autoblock, one end clipped to your leg loop or belay loop, the other tied around the rap line. To add more security, clip the rap decive to your daisy chain so it's even farther up the rope. The prussik goes below your rap device in this situation.

....so I end up choking one of the bitches to death. Luckily the other one was so strung out on blow that she didn't even realize what was happening. He face was all caked in blood and coke and she was braying like a mule. It took several blows to her head to finally silence her. I just wanted her to SHUT UP. Doing her from behind I was shouting "DON'T LOOK AT ME! DON'T YOU FUCKING LOOK AT ME" Anyways, thank god I was in Squamish, cuz there was plenty of clear plastic tarp and bags of Lime laying around. And then I free soloed Diedre caked in blood and lime and found jesus christ, our lord and savior AMEN!
