  1. Yep, there are only a couple pitches where hauling wouldn't be a total pain. We spent the night sitting on the big ledge up high. No bags or pads. It sucked, but you can sleep good the next night.

    Dropping a Tree

If the tree goes the wrong way, consequences? Can you see decay at the base of the tree? Further up the tree? Setting a rope to pull helps. It should be at 2/3rds tree height. What kind of insurance do you have? Here's a much better description of procedure and technique than the youtube version. Felling Technique Have you cut down small trees where not hitting targets was important. If this 130 foot tree is your first one you may want to hire somebody who has experience felling trees.

    I LOVE PENIS

... eternal Dwayner ... Either that or free LSD. In this case though you can turn the trip off. If you can figure out how to use the scary looking thing in front of you that is. Careful that mouse might bite, or is it a rat
  4. I found a better link with some top capitalists in action. Of course if there's a complete meltdown caused by horrible government oversight capitalists will provale. Maybe only for a short period, but it'll be worth it. Warlords of the 21st Century It's well worth watching the whole movie if you have time (9 parts)
  5. The meristem produces both xylem and phloem. Old phloem turns into the periderm, and old xylem turn into heartwood. Are any of those Van Halen songs? or Eddy solos???
  6. Is the Rooster pissed that future roosters will eat him as a snack?
  7. Individuals and corporations should buy the biggest gun they can and fight it out. That's the only way we'll get what is ours, or what we want. [video:youtube]7J7T1mzD8nc Death Race 2000
  8. A friend of mine used a BOB a couple times for trips from Seattle down the coast to Southern Cali. He liked his.
  9. I scanned a few of my slides last week. I might as well put some in this thread. Riccardo rules. Cassin Ridge '87 Upper icefall of the NE Fork of the Kahiltna Blast zone. The mid pole of our tent got busted from the blast. We just got a nice view. Top of the first rock band (above the Japanese couloir) About 15,600 feet. Our camp above the 2nd rock band. At about 16,000 feet. After this 5 pitches of traversing take you to the upper glacier

    Eddie

Yaaaaawn. This seemed alot cooler when I was 15. Exactly! All it does now is remind me of jr high. By '83 I'd sold my VH albums.
  11. Here's a video of the footlock event. 40 feet up a rope in 19 seconds. (Edit, my mistake, make that 15.8 seconds) [video:youtube]
  12. A fun thing to do if you're in the city and not at the crags or up in the mountains this weekend. This is a regional competition. The winner of the event gets to compete in Kelowna British Columbia on Sunday October 4th at the Pacific Northwest Chapter Tree Climbing Championship. One note: There are lots of good climbers on CC, but you can not enter this competition unless you are currently a member of the chapter. Also, standard climbing harnesses and ropes are grounds for immediate dq.
  13. The movie version of Woodstock is funny. The show had some good bands obviously, but I couldn't handle a crowd of people like that.

    Sport vs Trad

It's been a while, but I just remembered a cool route in the Icicle. Right next to Carnival crack is a really good one called Sideshow Bob (Eric Mohler, Tom Perkow, Dave Bale 1999). It has some cool crack climbing leading to face with some small cracks. Right near the top (Crux?) of the route is a bolt. I was happy to see. The bolt. The bolt was interesting though. I thought it was kind of close to a crack where you could place pro. I hear the bolt was placed on rap by one of the FA crew. Interesting

    Sport vs Trad

It seems like the best position to take on bolting has nothing to do with either sport or trad. Grid bolting, and bolting next to cracks suck. Chipping holds blows too. If a crag has a lot of history then stick with the long time practices (No DDD like routes on Castle). As far as hanging to install a bolt. Hanging allows you to concentrate on doing a good job. If you do place a bolt doing a good job is way more important and helps you not screw up and then place more bolts.
  16. His description matches the description of the standard N Face route.
  17. That's cool. Nice pictures on the link too.
  18. Actually no The design group is a very insular lot who keep to themselves. Instead of seeking outside advice on problems or issues, the design group rarely asks for assistance. Sure they're protecting the project, but every other aircraft Boeing built relied on help from lots of people not in the project. If that strategy was a good one the plane would have been done a lot closer to on time.
  19. This my favorite option
  20. The times I've done the route we did some rappelling near the ridge crest once, and the second we down-climbed the ridge. Overall down-climbing was better. That was a while ago though, and there wasn't an official descent route.

Look at these climbers of the future [img:center]http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ee/Space_elevator_structural_diagram.svg/300px-Space_elevator_structural_diagram.svg.png[/img] Bolts placed at a local crag are a small scale compared to human placed object in space. Future generations will laugh at our wimpy bolts since they'll place hard core artificial objects.
  22. The Winter Olympics will never be as cool as this again [video:youtube]M-RumbnQZTE I hope it only cuts back on bc ski access for a couple weeks.
  23. Ya know there's a curling club in North Seattle. Maybe CC could put a team together with plans to represent America
