Back on subject (Ut oh) Is climate change proven on the level of a mathematical proof, or say something like F = MA? No it isn't, but the vast majority of science we use on a daily basis is not proven at the 100% level. Of course climate science will cause a lot of controversy. After all big industries make money from adding CO2 to the air. Entire countries, and the people in them, rely on industries that produce CO2 as a byproduct to generate jobs and provide economic stimulation. Based on this fact it is not in anybodies interest to impose restrictions on people or industry. If the vast majority of scientists say it is happening, and their work is reviewed by other scientists then it is a real issue. I'm sure due to the economic impact of the necessary changes to life every country out there is going to review the science before agreeing to changes. The only folks out there who don't buy in are folks like the oil and coal industry, and they pay for information consistent with their view, or wingnuts like Fairweather who rely on Veterinarians to spoon feed them the info they want to hear.

Trees and property lines do generate lots of disputes. Leaf raking is pretty minor. The tree might be owned by both parties. No matter what the best solution is to try and talk it out with your neighbor. Perhaps you can tell your neighbor that raking leaves is good exercise and you guys should do it as a team project. Then again you could give a neighborhood kid five bucks to shit in a bag, leave it on your neighbor's door, light it on fire, then ring the bell.

Yep it's clearly a battle of who has the biggest blower. Stihl or Husqvarna make the biggest and best. Stihl [video:youtube] Husqvarna [img:center]http://www.husqvarna.com/c/i/prd/h/husqvarna-125bt-h210-0101-50bd905b.jpg[/img]

Here's a recent study done using NOAA data: A study by Dr. Tomas Schmidlin a Certified Consulting Meteorologist catalogued tree related deaths from storms. In a 13-year period from 1995 to 2007, 407 people suffered fatality from a strike by a tree. This translates into 1.45 deaths per million per year. Due to tree size and population density more deaths did happen in the NW and NE parts of the US. The number is much lower than the number of people killed by vehicles or even those struck by lightning. Here's some stuff to keep in mind. In the study 2/3rds of fatalities were males. 44% occured in vehicles and 38% happened while outdoors. One amusing item from the study. 18% of fatalities occured to people in houses, but half of those deaths were to people living in moblie home trailers. You're at a high risk from: being a male, living in a trailer park, and disregarding windstorms and driving out to go for a hike. Just a guess, but dumps of snow are like a windstorm in some ways.

No parking at the tunnel entrance. You need to be creative, and have a good idea about what will get you busted.

You'll get sick of turkey eventually. Then what? [img:center]http://photos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/hs027.snc3/11443_1304238566432_1244541564_30938513_7637053_n.jpg[/img] You know you're going to want some pork. Not quite bacon but really close. Maybe they'll special order bacon meatballs.

I heard this story on the radio. One amusing point was made. You can't, or shouldn't buy others peoples fat to inject into you. Your body doesn't like other peoples fat and immediately rejects it. :hcluv:

Trip: Cascades - Arrowhead Date: 11/22/2009 Trip Report: All these stories of new snow had friends and I apprehensive. It could be killer powder but there isn't much of a base. Nice smooth snow can have logs and rocks hiding out underneath. Also avy forecasts got our attention. We figured we should harvest some powder but stay away from big open slopes. Cman, JH, and I decided to stick to territory we knew pretty well, so we skied towards Arrowhead. Somebody was nice enough to break some tracks to the upper clearcut, but then it was up to us. The three of us were able to tag team trail breaking, but often breaking was through two feet of snow. Tree wells were only recently buried, and you could expose moats around boulders with ease. I found one funny section on the ascent. In order to stay out of a moat I had to undercling a boulder. We got up high on the peak, but rising winds and our worry about avalanche caused us to declare a high point and start shredding. Two feet of powder is always nice, maybe not by Aspen standards, but who cares. Uptrack Highpoint Powder Fun times! Yes is good. If I had to pick a favorite it would be something from 801 Live [video:youtube] Baby's on Fire [video:youtube] Their version of the classic Kinks song [video:youtube] Miss Shapiro [video:youtube] I can't find the 801 Live version, but Third Uncle is a great end of the album. Among other things religion is a method of describing ethical behavior. I bet there are a lot of athiests that believe shoplifting and shooting people is wrong. The only difference is religious folks are more in the camp of being either book fans, or into a club. The bible, koran, etc tells me not to... Or, "The Pope wants me to..." The country can do just fine if we don't impose religious beliefs on everybody. BTW I believe in

Kevbone This isn't a bad thought. Lots of climbers from this area plan trips out of the NW. Utah, New Mexico, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona are popular regional destinations. As things stand right now Idaho and Montana have there own sections (In my book I'd separate North from South Idaho ). I don't think it's a matter of competing with other forums. It's just a question of setting up a separate section that NW climbers might like and are more likely to visit than say the east coast or a foreign country excluding BC in Canada.

Yeah, so like I made the Universe in 7 days. I'm still kind of freaked. That Satan guy is a real bummer. Why did I make him.
