Fairweather, That is a good question. I dont know as of now but I think it is in the negotiation phrase. I looked at Matts question as a general one, so touche on the point of it being more specific. I do like a good public debate on taxes, so thanks for jumping in. One thing I did notice is that your point becomes lost when attacking a person or using demagoguery to rationalize the stance, I'm not saying your the only one but it is tough to get past this. I am surprised that a lot of people will argue, dont tax them, when they do not examine the other side of the coin, which would be like saying:"tax us more, not them" and I do believe that there is waste in government, but there is also waste in the private sector. One difference is the private sector is looking for profit and government cant, and different rules apply. TTT TTT, Alpine K has called me a "Jesus Freak"(not sure why), a "Mother Fucker" and once threatened to rob my house. Forgive me if I don't feel compelled to grant him a civil debate.[/QB] I'm not looking for a totally civil debate. You do seam to lack a sense of humor though. In real life I would never rob your house, or any house. I thought I would test you about being a Jesus Freak due to some comments you made about the first amendment. As to Motherfucker well you are, but so am I. Try and relax. [ 11-18-2002, 08:48 PM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]

Socialist me hahaha. I run a small business you idiot. If I have to pay taxes I want everyone else to feel the same pain I do. Getting back to car tabs if everyone spends $30 then thats a regressive tax. If you can afford to buy a Hummer then you can afford to spend more for car tabs. I should say I thought the old fees for tabs were too high, but I'm not into the $30 thing.

So we make sure the wealthy are not paying the "vast share" of tax dollars on a local level. So the 1% of Americans that control the 60% of wealth in this country (or whatever those figures are) have to pay less than 60% of the taxes? How is that fair? Lets think about this. If a latte costs $3 and person A has $10 and person B has $100 who is more likely to buy the latte. Isn't $3 a lot harder to come up with if you only have $10 to your name.

You sure make a lot of assumtions Fairweather. Matt lives in Renton. Also, while Matt may have picked one park to talk about, he is generalizing based on his experience. I believe if you followed the news you would learn that a number of parks are closed due to lack of funding. You seem to have a hard time getting past your assumptions.

I had a good time the last time we went out east. I'd be happy to go out there again, but I'm not into it unless Ray, Lisa, Greg W, etc. start raising a big stink. If you want to drink on the eastside start getting a big enthusiastic group of eastsiders together on Wednesday. Oh yeah all you eastsiders need to stay out past 10:30.

Yeah the Vandals record stinks, but I'm not really interested in details.

How about we drink beer somewhere on Tuesday.

Hysterical, It took me about 10 years after the first time I heard of global warming to start looking into it. Just because I'm part of the problem doesn't mean I can't work to change things. I've never advocated that anyone give up any of their stuff. All I'm interested in is seeing the government and industry shift away from oil. That's one reason I hate GW.

University of Idaho, 8 miles east of that shithole Veggy went to school at.

Fuck the Cougars. Go Vandals!

Ah Fairweather I just new you were going to accuse me of that. What you fail to see is like AA you need to get on the 12 step program. The first step is to admit you have a problem. I have a pickup truck, a dump truck, a chipper, and about 7 chain saws. Why? well because I run a business that requires that I own all of those things. I couldn't run my business without them. Just because you work in some office doesn't mean that a lot of folks aren't burning fuel for you and your creature comfort. You see I've moved on to the 3rd of the 12 steps. I know you have a shitty memory, but I should remind you that I burn biodiesel in my chipper. I just bought a new diesel dump truck which I plan to fuel with biodiesel. The fuel gives you a net reduction in greenhouse gasses of 75%. As to my pickup well that's going to be tougher. I may convert it to natural gas. At least I don't commute to work. Chain saws are another problem, but the total volume of fuel I use for them is very small compared to a truck. So you see I'm voluntarily spending more money on fuel (biodiesel costs more) because of my beliefs. I think you need to take the first step Fairweather and admit you have a problem. It's ok just say, "Hi I'm Fairweather and I burn petroleum."

Fairweather, Why are you so obsessed with the A4? Could Matt be driving one of them fancy Volvos or perhaps a Saab. Do you own an A4, or do you dream of owning one? Pagetop! [ 11-17-2002, 09:16 AM: Message edited by: AlpineK ]

1) Dodge Dakota 2) 1 time 3) Yes 4) Clearance was the main factor. A 4X4 with a short wheelbase is the way to go for bad roads. Full sized pickups with extracab and longbeds are stupid 4X4 vehicles.

I don't read most of your posts for just that reason, but I do scroll by them. Thus none of your arguements ever reach me. If you want to win your audience (not that you can win me) you have to work with them.

Mtn Goatfuck. Can't you post like a normal human, or are you an auto respose program.

Man I haven't watched that much TV in a long time. Let alone such crap. I don't know how you do it Tim. I'm scared of TV now.

He might be, but he spends most of his time at the Sunset.

On Tuesday at 7PM seatting at Al's shouldn't be a problem.

Well CrazyJizz you didn't tell me he was coming. Ya know you talk all tough and shit, but we both know your whipped. I'm not saying being whipped is bad, but I think Tom might get in your face if you told your story.
