looking ti get a Mt. Rainer summit team together
AlpineK replied to tony.henley's topic in Climber's Board
I'm not aware of hating Rainier. It has been a while since I've been there, but there are a lot of cool places around here. I'll be just south of the park next weekend. It sure is snowy all over. -
We saw a few tracks on that side.

GW would have been better off to start a Texas NHL League Team. The Texas Puck Fuckers.

Like I said service isn't the bottom line, but if you do ramble on about your service in the military then you really better have served. I just got a real

you like the guy who didn't serve in the military... wait you just criticised W for that. oh dear I just said I have some respect for folks that actually served in the military, but that isn't the bottom line in who I vote for.

As things currently stand I like Obama, but I wouldn't be bothered if McCain got into office.
-
All I have to say is the elder Bush actually served in the military for real. Our current presidents military record is a joke. That's ok. He'll be gone in less than 1 year.

All I have to say is I have a 4WD Pickup. That gets you better acceleration while driving, but all vehicles 2WD/4WD have 4 wheel breaking. A big rig gets you a little, but you still need to keep your speed down. I think a lot of 4WD AWD owners have this vision in their head that they can do whatever they want to.

Nice quote Sherri. I'm 98.75% convinced of trolling by the author of this thread.

Trip: Silver Peak East Face - Central Cascades Date: 1/27/2008 Trip Report: I've skied a lot around the Snoqualmie Peak area, but I've never spent much time in the backcountry just south of the pass. A few weeks back a group of us skied up Mount Catherine and we had a fun decent. At the time we looked over at Silver Peak and Tinkham. Given the avalanche conditions this year we figured there was some good tree skiing to be had here. On Sunday Jan 27th Cman, JH, and I drove up to the Hyak Ski Area. From there we headed out the Cold Creek road to Twin Lakes and then up to Windy Pass. From the pass we skied up the NE ridge. We had a tricky bit just below the summit ridge, but everything worked out fine for us. Here's a map of the area. Cman and JH just below the main summit ridge just after the crux of the route. We headed out the ridge and got to a point where a nice gladed chute dropped down to Twin Lakes. The summit just wasn't worth it, and the run down to Twin Lakes looked really good. Photo down our decent with Catherine and Lake Keechelus in the background Tinkham Peak from our high point The run down to Twin Lakes was fantastic with about 8" of nice powder. Twin Lakes is a super spot with nice views of Tinkham through the noble firs and mountain hemlocks. View towards Tinkham After we left the lake we had a tricky time finding the best route back to the groomed XC trail, but it all worked out. All and all a super day. Gear Notes: Skis boots and poles. Avy transceivers are nice. Approach Notes: The round trip is just over 10 miles. The ski area has all these signs up about about required XC passes. At about 1.5km they do have a sign stating that it is an open road for all backcountry skiers. There is another sign where we left the trail stating the need for a pass. We managed to work around the requirements.

I'm hoping it dumps feet at my place. Then there will be a nice ski run down to Lake Washington. Some homeowners might be pissed, but screw em.

Yeah who cares if you didn't summit. That's some cool climbing.

Troll????? That sure is possible. All I can say is 20 grand for a guided trip on Everest is cheap. If you're ultimate goal is to climb E then focus on climbing a boatload of smaller stuff first. In general climb stuff like Rainier, but learn about and focus on the non-dog routes. Climb a bunch of rock, ice and mixed route. In general make money and spend as much as you can on traveling to climbing spots and necessary gear. Low budget food and beer are part of the deal.

Denali Expedition 2008 - Looking for 10-12 member

Not just yet. Lets get another 20 page of religious bullshit then I'll think about it. -
It's been a long time since I was actively doing computer programing. Most of my computer programing experience involves submitting a Pascal program to a mainframe and then waiting for results. Things were even funnier when I first started since we had to use a card punch machine and a gigantic printer that would spit out huge piles of paper if you screwed up your program. All I know now is Microsoft is NW based and Apple was made by a bunch of Californicators.

A military radio eh? Can we call in a bombing strike if we see climbing groups that piss us off? If yes then I'm in. -
You folks don't want to make Oprah mad. This is all about T Shirts. I like Prost, but it does seem small at times....if there was a big group that is.

[TR] Minnehaha Fall Color Bouldering - Several 9/29/2007
AlpineK replied to spotly's topic in Central/Eastern Washington
I'm not sure what to say about Minni. I used to have tons of fun climbing there in the 80s, but even then the place was covered in graffiti and shit everywhere. It's too bad. I know it's been scrubbed a few times, but it seems like a loosing battle without an armed ranger. -
I'm interested in what they can do with diesel. The ethanol sounds promising. I've also read some interesting stuff about experiments they're doing off La Push using buoys to generate electricity from the motion of waves.

Looks like fun

Yeah that was good to see. I've never been in that situation, but I have some understanding of how much a couple little things can really have a major consequence.
