I could post all the 801 (Brian Eno) videos out there, but I'll try and stick to one. cvPHbbUwVU8

There's a trail up Goodell to the standard approach to the southern pickets and one that leads to below The Barrier, but I never saw anything going further up Goodell. If there was it's bushwhacking now.

I believe the verdict is out on the subject of pot. Recently I heard reputable scientific studies that link pot to gum disease, but the study failed to mention the quantity required to trigger gum disease. Modern pot requires a lot smaller dosage to get, "high," than the kind of pot available in the 70s and before. Pot could be bad for you, but the legal drug alcohol has some negative impacts and it's widely available.

I don't have a copy of the law, but somehow I think the Republicans have better things to do than worry about a caucus vote here or there. As long as you didn't vote in both caucuses you're probably fine. There's a long history on both sides of voting in the opposite caucus to promote the candidate that you believe has the best chance of loosing

Lowell Skoog in Seattle - February 7th 7:30PM

It was a great show here in Seattle. I'm glad I went. -
Right now as you go up into Silver Basin the eastern (left hand) side of the basin is out of the ski area. There are some good runs on that side. No huge vertical drop, but they are fun. You can hike up 3-Way peak from the low point on the Silver Basin saddle. That's a fun run.

I didn't like either, but I disliked the second Bush more than the first. As for the Clintons I'm sure I'll dislike Hillary. The Clintons had their time now they need to move on.

I tried to do an early Southern Pickets trip in '06. It wasn't nearly the snow year that things are shaping into this year. Things looked questionable but not outrageous when we started in. We got up to about 5000' then things looked bad so we camped out, but the next morning it still looked bad. We hiked down and drove to Mazama. One day of cragging and a climb of Clean Break on Juno worked out just fine with reasonable weather.

Actually I hear the voting system in California is a mess and it may take longer than Wednesday for it to really be over.

That was a good game last night. I wasn't for either team, but it had a great end.

looking ti get a Mt. Rainer summit team together
AlpineK replied to tony.henley's topic in Climber's Board
Anybody who thinks that Rainier is the only mountain in the Cascades is both stupid and missing out on a lot. I'm out of here. 3 days of skiing and none at Rainier. Have fun sitting behind a computer Bug -

I agree there is no good reason to ban parking there. I'd get involved in a dispute with the state, DOT, or whatever over that.

I think that is a league sport. Maybe Tony is looking in the wrong forum? BTW Yes I do like the hut at Muir. -

Based on my estimate of the 1.2% or so chance that you aren't a troll I gave you real mountaineering advice. Now I put the odds of you not being a troll at .000000001%

I did a climbing trip back in the 80s in the Canadian Rockies. I didn't have a car or a partner. I got a ride to Vancouver Canada then I bought a train ticket to Lake Louise. I had a huge duffel bag full of gear and some food. I then went out to the Highway and stuck out my thumb. After awhile I got a ride up the Icefields Parkway to the Columbia Icefields. I then got a campsite and started walking around and talking to folks who looked like climbers. In the end I met a decent partner with a car and we did a bunch of climbing all the way from an attempt on Robson to climbing Mt Louise down by Banff. At the end I got back on the train and got back to Vancouver and then a ride to Seattle. All it took was the desire, some money, and the will to make it happen.

That's a bummer. I was thinking of heading over there and parking in that spot. I can't see why they want to restrict parking there. DOT

There's still a little outside, but this 500' freezing level sucks. I wish the banana belt would move south.

Having spent some time in the hospital then constantly going back for follow up visits I can't begin to tell you how good it was that I'd been paying in to have good insurance. I remember bitching it for years before I used it about paying the monthly fees, but now I'm very happy that it was there for me. Take the job for the insurance then hang out with our mom and climb with your friend. In the mean time you can keep searching for a job up here and making regular visits. Good luck

Who would you rather have run the country? This guy? Or the guy who had to rescue him?

Why buy a little Mac from Apple when you can walk down the street and get a Big Mac for a couple bucks.
