There is a lot of truth to the article. That's not why I think it's stupid. What they have essentially done is singled out what in reality is an incredibly small niche group (climbers) and then made a smaller niched group (gym to outdoor) that in reality leaves an incredibly small footprint (bolting debate aside), comparatively speaking. There are so many other issues environmentally and ecologically speaking that take such a higher priority I question the motive behind the authors topic choice other to write something that can only offend a limited few and stir debate.

I would guess that most if not all these problems would be resolved if you quit and restarted your browser, and if that doesn't solve them clear the cache in your browser.

Try quiting and restarting your browser.

Trip: Mt. Rainier - Paradise to Muir Date: 10/14/2007 Trip Report: Me and my buddy Reid skinned up to Muir from Paradise on what was an awesome blue bird day with very mild comfortable temps. We tennis shoed up to the top of Pan Point, and were able to skin without interruption to Muir, about 3 hours from the car. Coming down the snow was just awesome until about 500k above Pan Point, where there just wasn't enough coverage to avoid route finding mistakes and having to clickout. I was too stubborn to pack my skis up and ended up getting down to about 500 feet below the base of Pan Point. Saw lots of people with skis, most of them carrying too much gear. Someone obviously got tired of carying their light saber and left it at one of the rest spots, but no evidence of Taun Tauns. With the strong system that is coming in this week I'd imagine that by the weekend people could be skiing from and to the parking lot.

7 years ago to this day Tim and I started this website. We talked about it a bit online yesterday and it went something like this... j"Dude do you know what tomorrow is?" t"OMFG" j"Thats right beyotch" t"Why didn't we start facebook or myspace?" j"Bro... we started spraybook" Anyways it's been fun, thanks to everyone who has contributed to this website over the years to make it the monster that it is today. Porter and I will be going to Red Robin tonight to make them sing us happy bday. Cheers

The epiphany I had this winter is that I could get away with a really light sock, even on the coldest days, as long as my shoes weren't very tight. Also, when buying booties make sure to get one size larger then your shoes size. While I have no proof of this, increasing your pedal cadence would likely increase the circulation to your feet as well.

Ahhh nothing like intelligent conversation... If anything I'm surprised that it took longer for someone to say something, some of you guys will bitch about anything. To make a long story short several months ago the ad firm that represents the Army SF contacted us looking to run an ad. He explained why and told me what they were looking to do. After a little hesitation we decided to try it out, and after a month they decided they didn't want to continue with it. Most of you probably didn't even notice it. A few weeks ago I was contacted again saying that they wanted to do it again, but wanted it more visible then before. Porter, Tim, and myself went back and forth on it, and kind of came to the conclusion that the ad they wanted to run was too large and wasn't going to work. In the meantime I had been contacted by a few more outdoor oriented ventures looking for a space similar to what the Army was looking for. We were able to find a compromise and here we are. Compared to most sites advertising ours if fairly benign and will stay that way. The bottom line is this. There is stuff we would like to do with this site, both in a development aspect (updated trip reporting system), social aspect (slideshows, parties, making some t-shirts), and an advocacy sense (land preservation donations, climbing grants). All these require money. In a few days this website will be seven years old, and in breaking into the web top 100k the "revenue generating potential" rises to a considerable amount. The new ad spot will help enable us to go in the direction we envision.
