  1. Alpenphoto.com - it's my online 'portfolio'. Click on the picture of Fitzroy on the homepage to access the Patagonia gallery. That picture of Fitzroy is the pic that won the cc.com and Vancouver Mtn Film Fest photo comp - landscape division. The other pictures are all part of the Patagonia exhibit I've got up in places around town. (At the Greenlake Starbucks until tomorrow, March 6th). Enjoy!
  2. That first picture rocks. Polarizer? Also, I'm not familiar with the area. Is that Mt. Cook in the first photo, or just another big peak in the area? Beautiful...
  3. Hmmm... I wonder if I can pay my mortgage payment with it. That would definetely increase the dividend.
  4. Possible to see any pics of these set-ups?
  5. Yes, it may seem evil and cruel and egotistical to be making fun of these pictures, even though some peeps on cc.com either at some point were or are members of the mounties. You're right, though the mounties structured way of teaching may not suit everyone, it is in fact a very good environment for learning for others. That being said, it is just way too much fun to have a laugh at these pictures, even if they are just pics from some scrambling class!
  6. I think Dru is going into retirement before hitting 30,000 posts. He'll be 29... forever.
  7. neil, why not get your folks to carry their own stuff so they can get used to the pain and suffering? why baby them?
  8. What happened matt? Some close calls on the steep stuff? Recruit not ready for the amount of pain and suffering involved?
  9. I stand corrected.

    30,000 posts

I just noticed that according to the post #s, dru has 30k/550k = 5.5% of all posts ever on cc.com. that's just plain wrong. I think there should be an intervention.
  11. I don't have a mustache. Do you think it would still be possible for me to climb this route? Also, how was the glissade down? Did the snow hurt your chode?
  12. Porters on Rainier! Ha! That's funny! I suggest telling them peeps that if they're gonna climb Mt. Cook, they need to learn to carry their own weight! Although, seeing that I am a money hungry bastard, I'll be pleased to carry a load for a nominal fee of $1000/day.
  13. What kind of polypro did you wear under your shorts? Did you have your ten essentials with you? I've done climbing before - in the army. We rappelled off of all sorts of things. Did you use the hand over hand rappelling technique or did you use a belay device?
  14. That kind of looks like "Coach", thouch aged a little bit. Is that a good way or a bad way to deal with hemmeroids?!? That guy is enjoying the snow up his shorts a little too much, don't ya think?
  15. I wonder if he is using the dual-y or mono configuration on his crampons. Sic free solo!
  16. Keep it up Dru and you may have 30,000 'fore midnight.
  17. Buildering - Mountie style! "Shorts over polypro are so versatile and fashionable, you can even where them in the city!"
  18. Yeah, you could pretty much say that. Just me and the ol' poisonous red frogs. And Mark F'n Twight. It's the uber secret location of Gym freakin' Jockstrap Jones. You must know the secret pushup - medicine ball sequence if you stand a chance of entering. Wimp.
  19. this has got to be one of the funniest pics I've seen ...
  20. I want to see the fatass in the goretex pants in the back try the sic boulder problem! Since when do spotters need to wear helmets? Ah shit... good clean fun Seriously, where do you people find this stuff?
  21. Holy crap! Where do you get these pics! I'm about to pee my pants! Bouldering with helmets and gaitors!
  22. 3 things in life are certain: 1) Death 2) Taxes 3) The resurrection of the "Mounties Pics" thread The 3rd is by far the funniest

    Cheap Rack

peakbetty, nobody is chewing your ass. (that would be gross)if you're going to want to glean some useful information from this board, you're going to have to be able to roll with the punches and be able to take a little sarcasm. you can't have a short fuse around here. nobody means any harm. climbers are freaks by nature that like to have little fun on the board. regarding the rack, there have been lots of good suggestions. if you're looking for cheap, i'd say stick to mostly nuts and hexes and tri-cams, but don't expect to be leading anything too steep with just that. you're going to start needing cams if you're going to want to be placing gear quickly one-handed in steep terrain. do you know what kind of terrain you will be venturing onto in the crag course? good luck putting it together
