  5. Unreal Torment? Yeah it's called Whistler beta2... Mike
  6. It is a great report, but I usually stare at the pretty white walls of my office to get my mind off work. Mike

  8. Dan and I did this on the first of January making a great NY's day. Due to the moderate winter there is not the usual climax avalanche amount of snow on the south side. Instead all the major ribs are windblown and adequate enough to get footing. Suggested bring trekking poles for balance. Pretty much you can go up any way you feel safe, but I would avoid the gulleys. We went dead up the middle on the prominent center rib. Cross the first avvy path into the trees and then before the second one go straight up. Total is 3800ft with the last 2K on 30 degree heather and snow slopes. Views on a nice day are stellar and in particular the northern aspect of Kaleetan is impressive. This peak is a great workout in preparation for better days. Mike http://alpinelite.com North Bend
  9. Dan, Why don't I just sell you my used BD BP with adze for a good price. I'll even include a homemade purple spectra leash with water knot still intact. I just bought those new Grivels and they won't be leaving my side for awhile. As a matter of fact I sleep with them under my pillow. I'm afraid the BP just wouldn't get out much anyway so it should go to a good man like yourself. It's only been drytooled a few times and dropped once Mike North Bend [This message has been edited by mikeadam (edited 01-09-2001).]

  19. Barry, Not sure. I've never been on that route. I thought when I got there I'd just go whatever way looked like I wouldn't fall off and went upwards. I have the "If something gets in my way-turn towards the easy section" kind of approach to climbing. Jim Nelson's recent guide might be able to give clearer beta. I just don't think that conditions are shaping up for much of anything right now except climbing rock and steep slushy snow. Mike
