Dan and I did this on the first of January making a great NY's day.
Due to the moderate winter there is not the usual climax avalanche amount of snow on the south side. Instead all the major ribs are windblown and adequate enough to get footing. Suggested bring trekking poles for balance.
Pretty much you can go up any way you feel safe, but I would avoid the gulleys. We went dead up the middle on the prominent center rib. Cross the first avvy path into the trees and then before the second one go straight up. Total is 3800ft with the last 2K on 30 degree heather and snow slopes.
Views on a nice day are stellar and in particular the northern aspect of Kaleetan is impressive.
This peak is a great workout in preparation for better days.
