  1. Im not the "Colin" but im a "Collin".
  2. I go to Bothell High School and just turned 18. I mostly have rock climbing experiance (and the gear but no trad rack), glacier travel, steep snow and alpine ice climbing experiance. Iv been in SAR for 4 years also. If any of you guys are interested in getting out shoot me a PM, id love to get out more! Oh, and i also have a car so im willing to drive.
  3. Post away! Iv seen TRs on rafting (isnt that more of going down).... Besides theres not really that many TRs that are posted and its nice to see new pictures.
  4. Does anyone know if this is still going down? If it is to unsafe we could organize another type of training of some sort...
  5. Iv got an Ortovox M1 analog avalanch transceiver for sale. Its never been used in the backcountry. Works great. Great for training or whatever you need it for. $40 obo *Note* screen is NOT damaged... Its a reflection.
  6. Thats the one i was thing of... Not Sierra Designs. I really want to try that one out sometime.
  7. I separated my shoulder and clavicle mountain biking. I was out for 6 weeks.
  8. Everyone seems to eat so little. I carry half my weaight in food and at the end of my trip, im left with very little. My climbing partner and i always keep a Luna Bar in our packs just to see how desperate we get as a little bet. We were on Stuart and I was low on food that didnt need to be cooked, we towards the end of an 20 hour day and i still didnt eat that thing!
  9. Rab makes a few out of the eVent fabric (im sure fellow CCers now know i love Rab). The thing i dont like about Bivys is the condensation. Stuff made out of eVent will wick it right away. I have a Mountain Hardwear Conduit SL Bivy, i wouldnt really recomend it because of the condensation that builds up. ...Sierra designs might make one out of eVent too...
  10. Candy. I have the bigest sugar tooth when camping or climbing. I also like cold bean and cheese buritos.
  11. I just added a little sunshine to my helmet.
  12. I took the train from Edmunds (it stops in Everett)to Wenatchee to meet up with my brother to go climbing. I dont recall a stop in Index but i might. Be careful of dudes that will hit on you. It was like 45 bucks round trip. ...If its during the weekend im sure theres a few people from cc.com going. Post in partners and say you want to ride share and are willing to help with gas.
  13. Ok so I have always been interested in sled hauling but haven’t been able to find out what sleds people are using. Do most people improvise a kids sled or are there companies that make sleds for mountaineering.
  14. I have big feet. Size 13-14.
  15. I dont know about a rope but crampons and an axe for sure.
  16. Im im looking for a good all purpose alpine boot for basically walking up the local glaciers and some easy waterfall or alpine ice with possible long approachs. Im looking at La Sportiva because everyone seems to have them but I have heard that Evo GTX wear out esaily? What about Raichle? I think Mammut bought them so how about Mammuts boots? What do you recommended? Thanks! C.
  17. Ahahaha I love it. It would be cool if my climbing adventures were as crazy as that movie.
  18. Trip Reports. Dont listen to Bug
  19. I never see these ladies when im out... And where is that pink bikini chick?
  20. Well you do have a point though... Im flipflopin i know but with snowmobiles its so easy to get into the backcountry and do something stupid. Snowmobiles can give people with no outdoor experiance easy access to remote parts of the outdoors. Pluse a lot of people who have never rode a snowmobile can go out and rent the most powerful sled for prety cheap with just a sign of a paper. That can get people into a lot of trouble. I was being a bit biassed because i am from Cle ELum and have rode with many experianced riders. Also half the instructors in my SAR avy courses are hardcore riders. Alot of searchs we have had have been snowmobile riders but that goes the same about climbers.
  21. Its not just snowmobilers that get killed in anvlanches... Backcountry skiers, people snowshoeing and yes... Even climbers. Im sure you wouldnt call a group of climbers with a party above them who let a slab off and got the lower party killed in an avalanch a "dumb f*** rock head". We all like the challege of going up, some not green-er than others. This sounds ruder than i mean it too, sorry.
  22. We could also turn this into a winter mountaineering seminar type thing... Maybe? Im really interested. Iv got some days off mid-feb.
  23. Ok so I bought Rabs Latok Alpine jacket, took it on one trip and I’m in love! I know that’s hard to say after a first date but it’s true. I’m now looking at up grading my down to Rabs Neutrino Endurance. Its 850 fill and weighs 22 OZs. Has anyone had any experience with it?
  24. Tech N9ne: Riot Maker and The Beast.
  25. Use old Nalgene bottles and place a little kitty litter inside.
