Read about climate versus weather. To me it is hard to apply dramatic weather events to climate cooling/warming. Want something spooky read about ocean acidification.

A trick I have done while winter camping is to heat just a little water, and put it in a bowl that the canister can rest in, which seemed to make the fuel last a lot longer. This was just a regular canister stove, so I have no idea about turning the canister upside down.

That is awesome that he was found. Way to go SAR. Also the MLU debate has moved to Mt. Adams now. http://www.katu.com/news/31231924.html#idc-ctools Evidently he was irresponsible for not bringing a GPS "so that people could locate him" In all seriousness, was to go Mr. Mamoyac I'm not sure how many people would be able to do what you did, good job.

To me it seems that his personality was basically "screw it, add a little playing to the audience for the heckuvit". It seems that earlier you talked about them saving time and added in: "Does anyone but them actually give a damn about shaving a few seconds off the speed ascent" But now you give him a hard time for playing for the "fans"? I do agree with you, alpine FA's seem a little cooler, but climbing El Cap quicker than I could probably climb a ladder is kinda impressive too.

At this point mass genocide would be about the only thing that works. Also, I'm sure that the recession/depression isn't making a difference at all in China and India, so those new coal plants every week aren't going to slow down at any point. Just read this, and it makes you think about what will continue to happen to the world even if CO2 emissions completely stopped. http://www.es.ucsc.edu/~jzachos/Data/Kolbert%20Oceans.pdf

I'm heading up to school at WWU this weekend and would be interested in scrambles after that.

I've been having issues where I log in, and all the forums are yellow like there are new topics, and the most recent topic is from 4pm today, but its only 1pm. They are also glowing yellow for forums that have already been read, and the most recent post is from about 5 days ago.

Looks good, code doesn't work though.

So I am looking for a new rain jacket/shell for climbing as I get into it. I stumbled across the OR Foray and found a few positive reviews, but wanted to hear opinions since so many of us have them.

Still going, they just had their 2 year anniversary.

bump for Friday the 11th.

Hey, so I'm looking to get into trad climbing and would love to go climb with someone who has a rack and some knowledge. This is a little in advance, but Friday the 11th or possibly tomorrow would work for me. I live in Gresham, so Broughton would be the easiest for me. I have a harness, draws and a rope, but no trad gear. Would love to belay, and sorta see how it all works. PMs would be the best bet for me.

Beware! Watch Out For This Scam. Be Careful - A 'heads up' for those folks who may be regular Home Depot customers. Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping. Simply going out to get supplies has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends. Here's how the scam works: Two very hot 20-21 year-old girls come over to your vehicle as you are packing your shopping into the truck. They both start wiping your windshield with a rag and Windex, with their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It is impossible not to look. When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say 'No' and instead ask you for a ride to another Home Depot. You agree and they get in. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs all over you, while the other one steals your wallet. I had my wallet stolen May 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, & 24th. Also June 1st, twice on the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 10th, 18th, three times last Saturday and very likely again this upcoming weekend. So tell your friends to be careful. P.S. Wal-Mart has wallets on sale 2.99 each
