  1. There are a lot of confusing things going on here...the only stage coach road I know about goes south from eburg over to the north side of naches. The only climb I know of thats accessible from that road is the one written about here in the TR. As for manastash falls, I've never heard of it, but I do know of ice in the manastash canyon, which is unpublished, but more than likely seen ascents.
  2. Anyone ski this?
  3. What will you be doing for work? That will be the biggest factor in where you can live and move to. Personally, I've been living in Ellensburg, WA for the last five years. It's been great. Great weather, great location (in regards to proximity) to climbing (rock, ice and mountains) and skiing. Partners are out there, just not all online. Good luck, and feel free to ask more questions.
  4. Glad you found a partner and got out. Things sure are shaping up nicely from when I was up there 2.5 weeks ago!
  5. I've had the arc'teryx 350a harness for about two years now. I purchased it on sale, which was my way of justifying the price - that and using student loans. I use it as my only harness, so its been ice climbing, rock climbing (sport and trad), alpine climbing and ski mountaineering. It is awesome. I have had no problem with durability, happy with its comfort and packability. I have noticed when I load up a large rack (think >#4 camalot) the harness can use a tightening, but its not excessive. My only piece of advice would be to use the petzl caritool with the arc teryx harness, rather than the BD style. Good luck.
  6. Thats a pretty loaded question. Where do you ski? How much money do you have? They can be both. If you ski at a resort that will get lots of powder and good accessible terrain via lift or you have a snowmobile then powder boards are great with normal downhill bindings. On the flip side, if you have the money to put some touring bindings on fat boards then when it snows big you can get some on your own. I guess another question is how fat of skis are you talking about? There are lots of fat skis that can ski groomers and crud just as good any other skis. Or are you talking skis like the Pontoons or ARGs?
  7. Trust your feelings Conor! haha sweet helmet. ice is forming on all my potential cliffs by the way
  8. That is a lot of ice! And yes, the skiing for the last week has been amazing!
  9. Wayne, What makes you think the roads are so bad out here? I was thinking about heading out there tomorrow...
  10. Just to play devils advocate. I have a '91 Toyota Pick-up (essentially the tacoma). This replaced my 92 Ford Escort (quite the upgrade). I built a nice set up for the bed (already had a canopy), which allows two people easily sleep in the back and have room for skis, bins, boots etc underneath. I am 6'1" for reference. Anyway, long story short, a pick-up of this nature will easily suit all your needs but can suffer in the mpg area. On the other hand, how bad of roads are you planning on driving on? Heavily snowed roads? If so, a truck is a big difference maker. I can drive (comfortably) on unplowed and undriven roads, etc, etc. On the other hand, my good buddy David, who posted above me, and his subaru has done great, but I thought I'd throw in some food for thought.
  11. Any pictures of 'the thrill is gone?" Its fun to see it in its always varying conditions. Good climbs you got on! Good job.
  12. Yeah its my usual deal...off at 0230 tuesday morning. What kind of drive time are you looking at?
  13. NOAA is predicting White pass to get 6-10" of new snow between tonight and monday night. I have tuesday off of work and would like to have some company. Let me know if you're interested. -Kevin

Happy Birthday Paul. If you can swing it, lets get out this winter! I've got a secret new ice crag you can help me develop!
  19. Then collect unemployment...
  20. Looking at the weather forecast skiing would be a better option.
  21. Good effort. In your last couple pictures is that the first pitch of curtians on carter mtn? Looks way more dramatic than when we climbed it last year.
  22. I picked up and used the glop stopper from BD. I feel like it really improved my skin's performance today.
  23. So whats the scoop on staying the night there? Just go or...?
  24. Thanks for the good info. I should mention that my earlier comment was a running joke I have with some of my skiing buddies. I agree that a longer, but not too long of a probe is good to carry. I'd rather have a chance at digging up a buddy rather than not being able to reach him/her at all.
  25. Further update...its cold and snowing in ellensburg.
