  1. Not sure who put them in, but I thought it might have been some rescue thing because there was an orange flag on them. Also, they've been there for more than two months. Seen them earlier in the summer. They seem pretty worthless to me.
  2. did that at the stuart lake TH on a busy weekend with no tickets. The sign was all of 50 yards from the TH. I thought the law was you had to park a 1/4 mile from the sign. Has that been relaxed now to being just outside of the limits of the sign? I've parked outside the sign at the Blue Lake TH everytime I've been there (maybe 8 times). Done it many other places too. Went to the X38 farside to be part of that joke on Sunday. Parked just the other side of that Discover Ass sign and had no ticket.
  3. I thought you were just supposed to park on the shoulder just outside the parking sign.
  4. Anyone have the good beta on where to park if you walkoff in lieu of rapping that wall? I heard there was an obvious large place to park off of road 5225. Any landmarks to look for, or is it the first obvious pullout? Thanks.
  5. Index LTW parking lot? Bullsh*t if so.
  6. $40 plus whatever it costs to mail them to you, unless you're in the Seattle area. They go for $100 new. I'll take a pic of them an PM you if you're interested. Want to make sure you know they're size 10.5. I didn't mix up the 5.10 earlier (brand) - hope this makes sense.
  7. I've got a pair of 10.5 mocassyms that are pretty new. I've climbed about 6 pitches or so in them. Too big for me, but probably perfect for someone else.
  8. I've seen more rattle snakes so far this year around 11town, than any of the last 5 years. Maybe because of the late moisture this year and the cooler persistant temps. Still waiting to get snipered by one of those itty-bitty baby ones that you can't even see.... till it would be too late .
  9.. Wet and a bag of chips for dinner .
  10. Nice pictures Mark! Yeah, the 2nd pitch of Princely is like that scrappy bit above the lower chains on Roger's.
  11. What's the camera for? So you have a video of your car getting popped to watch again and again? I guarantee you give the evidence to the fuzz and they're going to shove it away on some shelf, as it is not a priority. You really need to boobytrap your car!
  12. When I left LTW on Saturday there was a white car with the windows down and the passenger door open, but nobody was around. I can understand the windows down, but the door wide open is a new level.
  13. I talked my girlfriend into making a detour to Yosemite for 2 days in September. Prolly score 1 day of climbing with 1 day of tourista in the valley. Any recommendations for a fairly casual/cruiser route in Tuolumne based on personal/fun experience? Maybe 5.7ish, 6-8 pitches or so, with a kinda chill descent.
  14. Looks like everything is aligning for a good day of climbing on Friday - Friday the 13th and good temps, just nobody to climb with. Anybody else thinking about calling in "sick" tomorrow? 11worth or Index or ???. I can lead low 5.10s. Live in Seattle area. Edit: Partner found.
  15. Any updates? Still closed at 8 mile?
  16. BASE?
  17. Only a small section stays dry after a good rain. I'd suspect after these last few days maybe a couple climbs will be attemptable. Only 5.11 I know about I can't remember the name but it is near the new fixed draws. I think they were blue. will have some drips though. By Wednesday, best aid city park or hit up the ski area.

    ropes

I think knowing the middle of the rope is pretty handy. I have a mammut that "had" a black middle mark. I've had that rope for 3ish years and you'd never be able to find the black mark without starting with both ends and tracing to the middle. Every couple of weeks I have to tie thread around the middle of the rope now. I also use a bi-color rope. The middle will always be known unless the rope length changes. Maybe go el-cheapo and buy the cheapest/best rope you can get. Buy a rope marker and do it yourself. When it fades, remark it. I'm not sure what the overall consensus is on this now, but it seams to go both ways whether it's good or bad.
  19. Holly shizzle. 10'.
  20. Supertopo.
  21. Shiz, that dude would be like he-man at 170. He's like a friggin body builder. I'm aiming for 175. I'm 6'-0".
  22. Second the shotgun if you really are after home defense. You don't have to shoot well to have a good chance at hitting your target. I don't really get why people want to walk around with a gun in public, and bullsh*t if it's for safety. I'm not sure where you are going to live in Everett, but I doubt having a gun hidden in your pocket is going to make you safer. It may make you feel safer and tougher, but if someone gets the drop on you, you're toast. Like others have said, guns for the masses, are tools. They are fun to shoot, and sometimes expensive. I don't know about now, but the price of ammo was way up, and hard to get a while back. Do a short bit of research on caliber cost as well. You'll be pissed when you get your fancy new gun, and can't afford to shoot it. And you will need to shoot it a lot, if you think you're going to have a chance at successfully using it in a f*cked up situation. Ever think about throwing stars or small blow darts???
  23. I did the modification. It was pretty simple. Cutting the shaft was a no-brainer and went pretty easy with a hacksaw. I fired up a campstove to try and cook the spike out of the bottom. This went well too. Do it outside because it smells. After a minute or so, the existing epoxy got hot enough to fail and started to blacken and get brittle. I levered the bastard out with a hammer (it tore the aluminum - got week from being hot), but the spike came out easy with no dammage. Epoxied it into the shortened shaft and done.
  24. Clearly, YMMV The Tri Cities is a hole, indeed, but I would not trade my "traffic" for your gridlock any fuq'n day of the week. Case in point, my commute is 6.4 miles one way. I can do it in about 10 minutes; 13 if the lights are against me. That time savings is more important to me in the long run because I spend more time in town during a week than I do climbing out of town. Choose your poison, sir. Mine are short commutes and fine red wines. My commute is about 35 mins (on the bus) for about 10 miles. Ouch! Index LTW parking lot is exactly 1-hour drive though. For our soon to be neigbor, nurse friend. What we are trying to say, is be careful of where you live and work. Think about all of the things. A super long commute is evil.
