I haven't had to spank her in a long time, because it was such an effective deterrent. It sounds like you were beat as a child, which is different than a spanking. And it sounds like your experience has colored your view of ANY kind of corporal punishment as "beating." Too bad you were raised like that, but hopefully you can understand there is a difference between an enraged beating, and a controlled spanking. Maybe you don't agree, but don't paint the whole world with the same paintbrush, or your colors will run.

The Republican party was once more liberal than it is now, and the Democratic party was once more conservative. These things change. There are some Democrats who are more conservative than some Republicans, and there are some Republicans who are more liberal than some Democrats. The terms for one's party and one's political ideology are not interchangeable. For example, I am a liberal, but I'm NOT a member of the democratic party. The difference between the two ideologies is not a mystery, Kev. Haven't you ever taken any poly sci classes? Many conservatives are actually quite liberal and don't realize it. Of course, they'd likely never admit it, because some people have fostered divisiveness within the country by encouraging the use of these two terms as insults. I think this is wrong. I do not think there is anything wrong with the concept of conservatism, per se. I don't agree with most of the concepts of conservatism, but I think it's wrong to call them selfish, or always thinking about themselves. You can be a patriot and a conservative at the same time, you know.

Kevin, merely causing pain does not constitute child abuse. For example, spanking is not child abuse. Every state has slightly different laws. Almost all have some exception listed like below We all know your position on the use of corporal punishment, but that doesn't automatically make it child abuse, "just cause you say so." I wasn't there, so I guess I can't really say.

Index. LOVE the rock, and the climbing is steep and works me over good. Plus, the climbs are all relatively nearby eachother, as opposed to leavenworth where they are all spread out. When I've been climbing at Index, and then climb anywhere else, I always feel stronger.
