  1. It's too late MisterE. We already found out who Superman really is. Game over for us masquerading mortals.
  2. I think your points are right on the money. Perhaps they go toward explaining why climbing--as opposed to other sports like, say, curling or playing softball--is more likely to become a lifestyle for those who do it? For instance, I've never heard of a basketball player becoming a dirtbag. If he/she lived in a van in order to be free to shoot hoops anywhere, anytime, it's hard to imagine that other players would consider that a step up in life. At a busy crag in Red Rocks recently, when everyone was asking where folks were from, my partner answered that he was "from nowhere," living out of his car and climbing wherever he could. I swear, the whole crag let out this simultaneous, envious sigh when he said that. In their eyes, he was neither "homeless" nor "unemployed"-- he was "living the dream." And yes, I was jealous of him, too.
  3. Wasn't that Superman's gig??
  4. I can't believe no one has replied to my post. Everbodiez, look at my post! It's awesome. Hold your horses, cowboy. They're bizzy reading other expostulations.
  5. Mmmmmm, danish.
  6. This is from Hamlet, of course, but I think the whole paragraph is germane to this topic's elucidation of the finer points of spray.(And, no, smarty, I didn't use the thesaurus for that.) "This business is well ended. My liege, and madam, to expostulate What majesty should be, what duty is, Why day is day, night night, and time is time, Were nothing but to waste night, day and time. Therefore, since brevity is the soul of wit, And tediousness the limbs and outward flourishes, I will be brief: your noble son is mad: Mad call I it; for, to define true madness, What is't but to be nothing else but mad? But let that go."
  7. "Brevity is the soul of wit." Shakespeare would have been a good sprayer.
  8. Intercourse, PA? Doesn't get much worse than that. Sounds like a quote from an underground episode of Little House on the Prairie.
  9. I only used the thesaurus that ONE time. Busted.
  10. Intercourse In case you have trouble finding Intercourse, you can visit the nearby towns of Bird-in-Hand, Blue Balls, and Paradise, all of which are located in Leacock County. You can't make up stuff this good. Pennsyvlania represent!
  11. A good helpin' of Scrapple will plug that right up for ya.
  12. One's dignity.
  13. Yeah, it's as bad as it looks. Nothing says "good morning, sunshine" like compressed mush and pork unmentionables.
  14. Some things are better left to the imagination.
  15. you forgot hoagies and jiffy-steaks SCRAPPLE OMG, how'd I forget the Scrapple?! My grandpap had a penchant for that sad stuff, fried up in the bacon grease from the old soup can that perpetually sat on the back of the stove. Yummers. The hoagies and jiffy-steaks were safer bets.
  16. Sounds like you need a Stealth Climbing Rig. Here's MisterE's step-by-step manual for pimping your ride: Stealth Climbing Rig It's a must-read for all aspiring dirtbags.
  17. you're a sick puppy I try.
  18. Pennsylvania, if you'nse are interested. Home of Steak-ums, french fries with gravy, sauerkraut pieroghis, Rolling Rock Beer, and Shoo-fly pie... And indigestion.
  19. Thanks, Nathan. I'll have a look-see while I'm there.
  20. Thanks for sharing the good times. Loved the pics and it was a good read for a soggy nor'wester.

  22. This development could polarize the climbing community.

Guess the joke was on me then, but I was happy to get in a couple laps at Exit 38 Sunday(better than nothing right?). I wondered if we'd be washed out by the rain showers encountered en route, but the afternoon turned out to be relatively dry/mild. Could still smell snow in the air. Watched a little girl next to us leading a 5.7--it was only her second time lead climbing and she styled it. Her dad was belaying her with the brake strand pinched between just one finger and thumb though. Made me nervous to watch.
