Elvis. Thankyou, thankyouvermuch. Anne Murray, the Muppet Movie Soundtrack, and Barry Manilow are right up there, too. You DO NOT want to go on a road trip with me.

Were you there yesterday? I saw some folks over on Breakfast of Champions. Looked like fun. We were on Great Northern Slab and Aires. That chimney still kills me. Rather quiet day out there, it seemed. Only crossed paths with one other party at the top--they were coming up Pisces.

Healthy looks good on you.

Thanks, Billygoat. I will carefully weigh out my decision regarding which rope I ultimately choose, which is why I am looking for feedback from those familiar the device and what they prefer to use with it. Your post concurs with what I've heard elsewhere. Thanks for the helpful input.

Just last weekend, I was told I about this thread being a must-read that was worth searching for. I can see why it lives on as a classic.- 60 replies

And when you do, that's gonna be one very lucky dog. And a very happy Muffy-heart.

The original specs say the Yates Rocker works with 10.7mm to 12mm rope, the new Rocker(made by Singing Harness now) simply says 11mm. I've also heard of it being used with a rope as small as 9.8mm. I don't want to go THAT small, but I don't necessarily want to invest in an 11mm rope just for this one application, especially if it's going to end up feeding less than smoothly because of it being so thick. My current rope is 10.2mm, but I'm ready to retire it anyway, so was hoping to replace it with a 10.5 or 10.8mm so I could use it for my general climbing as well as for TR soloing with the Rocker. Anybody got any feedback on what diameter they best liked using with this device? (Mine hasn't arrived yet so I haven't been able to try it out on anything yet, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has.) Thanks, Sherri

Go ahead and let it all out, honey. This is a safe place.

Sounds like something you'd catch from a toilet seat in a public restroom.

What a beauty!!! I LOVE old dogs. Their eyes have stories to tell. Their bodies slow down but their presence remains powerful, and just when you think they've crossed into "old age", something suddenly stirs in them that brings out a playful, carefree puppy spirit again. If you are lucky enough to glimpse them frolicking in that fleeting, fragile moment, you feel yourself smiling from the inside out.

*snif* give him anything he wants. I'll pay i am just about ready to get a dog. i haven't had one since i was 16 and my family dog ( a boxer named Lady) died. He could use a sugar-momma. Sounds like you're ready for another "smoochie face" of your own. Isn't it amazing how much of an impression they leave on us? So true, the saying: "Dogs leave paw prints on our hearts."

Good Source for Climbing "Technique"?

With good climbers. -
I'm a sucker for a good mug, too. Those chocolate-chip eyes melt me every time. (This is my owner, Clancy.)

Patroller Supply, the folks on the link above who are selling the "new" Rocker(virtually the same as the old one except being manufactured in Czech. now and sold under the "Singing Rock" label) are super-helpful if you want to call them for more info on this device and its alternatives. I spoke with Steve, co-owner of the site, who has both the Yates and the Singing Rock versions of the Rocker and is familiar with their applications in solo-TRing, SAR, and as well as their usefulness in other EMS fields. Great resource for inquiring minds!

Aside from the nastiness of riding alongside that hwy construction, the persistent wind in Squamish has always factored in to my reserverations of road biking there. Kinda sucks the fun of out it for me. I'd second the suggestion for taking the mountain bike, instead. Pick up a copy of MacClane's "Squamish Trail Guide" at Valhalla--excellent beta for piecing together a good ride or trail run in the area.

Heh, heh. Way to keep them on their toes.

Well shoot, all this time I thought they was called "Chicken-scum." Live and learn. No matter. Mostly hippies and lesbians living out there these days, anyway. sickie The lesbians are closer to Port Townsend, it gets more conservative the more south you go from PT. You get to go climbing at Chimacum Rock too! I know of six living on just that one road. I think there's been a migration, and it's not looking very conservative. The neighborhood boasts an intriguing mix of yurts, trophy houses, and meth labs. Chimacum Rock got closed off to climbing before I could ever try it out(land dispute with owner, as I understood it.) Would have been nice to have another local crag.

I've got a couple hours to kill this afternoon while my rig is being serviced in Bremerton, so I'll be at the Vertical World from about noon til 4pm today. I know it's a shame to waste such a nice day inside pulling plastic, but it's better than reading oily issues of Ladies Home Journal in the waiting room. If there are any other desperados out there wanting swap belays, feel free to drop by. Surprise me!

i am trying to figure out how i can get a swim suite disolving hot tub at my house Invite the right person over and you won't have the expense of a new hot tub. True, true! I believe that alcohol possesses substantial swimsuit-dissolving properties, as well. No hot tub necessary.
