  1. Sweet! Portland represents!
  2. Judging by your avatar pic, I'd say it looks great!
  3. Keep in mind, Rmncwrtr, that around here "good quality" =women climbing in sports bras.
  4. Hey Moses! I remember reading your TR a while back. Exodus was classic: your FA of Mt Sinai, the plagues, being lost in the desert for 40 years... Nice write up.
  5. A little cocoa powder or dark chocolate gives chili a deep, rich dimension of flavor(kind of like mole' sauce). A dash of cinnamon also gives it a hint of something special. But I can see where beer would do that, too.
  6. The torte is a dense cake usually made with little or no flour. The torta can be a sandwich if we're talking about Mexican food, but in Italian and Spanish cuisines it's a more general term for a cake or tart. It's all good.
  7. Ew. That does sound gross. But I was referring to the dessert torta(just chocolate, no beans.) A little chocolate IS nice to add to homemade chili though.
  8. So true! We used to sing AG to the tune of "House of the Rising Sun" and to "Peaceful, Easy Feeling." Forgot all about that church camp stuff. Speaking of which, OMG it's all coming back to me now , there was a song we did called "The Weinie Song." "I love the weinie man He owns a weinie stand He sells most anything From hot dogs, on down. Someday I'll join his life I'll be his weinie wife. HOT DOG! I love the weinie man." Now that was some classic stuff, right there. Thanks for the good times, Jesus.
  9. Riiiiiight.
  10. I think the weaker-willed were lured away by the "Weight Gain Contest" thread. They've got torta's and guacamole over there.... You guys are the SURVIVORS!
  11. Also helps to take the booth on the far left(at the Truck Crossing). Both times I've gone thru that one, the officer didn't even look at my ID(and I'm driving an old Westy van with foil covering all the windows on his side of the vehicle ). The Seattle folks I was meeting in Squamish said they went in that lane and got the same apathetic wave-thru from the same guy. Weird.
  12. Were you there yesterday? I saw some folks over on Breakfast of Champions. Looked like fun. We were on Great Northern Slab and Aires. That chimney still kills me. Rather quiet day out there, it seemed. Only crossed paths with one other party at the top--they were coming up Pisces. Was it mid-afternoon? If so yep, that was probably Sprocket and I I didn't see anyone else running up it. If you were in a group of 4 (3 guys one girl?), then I think we came up the start of Aires (short slightly awkward crack to the first ledge) right behind you then headed right to Taurus Oh, and we were there on Saturday. We were only there Sunday, late morning to late-afternoon. Just two of us.
  13. Oh, Elvis is cool, Sherri. Barry, too. Whenever I'm in a funk, I like to listen to this song of his: Spirit move me every time I'm near you Whirling like a cyclone in my mind Sweet Melissa, angel of my lifetime Answer to all answers I can find Of course when Take That did their cover of Could it be Magic, they left out the very best line Ok. We can do a road trip together.
  14. Yanni. Long hair AND a mustache. What's not to like?
  15. "Why are there so many, Songs about rainbows. What's on the other side? Rainbows are visions. Only illusions. Rainbows got nothing to hide. Someday we'll find it, The rainbow connection. The lovers, The dreamers, And me." sickie
  16. Even though, we aint got money.... ...I'm so in loooove with ya honey, everything's gonna be all right."
  17. Elvis. Thankyou, thankyouvermuch. Anne Murray, the Muppet Movie Soundtrack, and Barry Manilow are right up there, too. You DO NOT want to go on a road trip with me.

  19. Healthy looks good on you.
  20. Thanks, Billygoat. I will carefully weigh out my decision regarding which rope I ultimately choose, which is why I am looking for feedback from those familiar the device and what they prefer to use with it. Your post concurs with what I've heard elsewhere. Thanks for the helpful input.
  21. Just last weekend, I was told I about this thread being a must-read that was worth searching for. I can see why it lives on as a classic.
  22. And when you do, that's gonna be one very lucky dog. And a very happy Muffy-heart.
  23. The original specs say the Yates Rocker works with 10.7mm to 12mm rope, the new Rocker(made by Singing Harness now) simply says 11mm. I've also heard of it being used with a rope as small as 9.8mm. I don't want to go THAT small, but I don't necessarily want to invest in an 11mm rope just for this one application, especially if it's going to end up feeding less than smoothly because of it being so thick. My current rope is 10.2mm, but I'm ready to retire it anyway, so was hoping to replace it with a 10.5 or 10.8mm so I could use it for my general climbing as well as for TR soloing with the Rocker. Anybody got any feedback on what diameter they best liked using with this device? (Mine hasn't arrived yet so I haven't been able to try it out on anything yet, but I'd love to hear from anyone who has.) Thanks, Sherri
  24. Go ahead and let it all out, honey. This is a safe place.
