  6. Can't you just mix it stronger?
  7. Yeah, the figure eight/biner might get caught on stuff. But putting a 5 mil line through your belay device is also not really going to work, right? It seems like either way you're going to have to rap off a knot jammed in the chains. I think the eight is less likely to get caught in a link than a double fish. And that is putting aside the question of whether a 10 mil/5 mil double fish is trustworthy.
  8. I don't have a road bike- are they all sketchy in the rain or do tires make a big difference? It's rare I go out mountain biking without wrecking in a small way, but I've never had the superman-style crash.
  9. If you're gonna use a really lightweight line for retrieval, there's something else easy you can do. Thread the end of the rope through the anchor. Tie a figure eight on a bight at this end of the rope. Clip a biner through the loop. Clip the biner around the hanging end of the rope. Now the rope is anchored to itself. Tie the retrieval cord to the biner. Now when you pull the retrieval cord it pulls the biner, and the free end of the rope feeds upward through the biner. The whole mess falls down on you like you would expect. 'Course I've never done it before but it works great in my head...

  12. i think you mean wedding day...or are you trying to *ahem* boast?? Oh yeah....Wedding Day....thanks for the correction....its 10.b right. That climb sucks. I almost sold my rack and never climbed again after that experience. I remember this. I was there that day... I don't understand. This is a good climb. What is the problem?

  15. hmm... I have a non-dry Mammut that got drizzled on and seemed to soak it up pretty quick. I haven't actually done a dip test so I guess I'm not sure.
  16. Dude, the tent you are looking at is way too much for your stated uses. Why do you want a four season tent for summer mountaineering and car camping? Buy whatever you want but I don't get why you're asking for advice.
  17. If you are just asking "Is a convertible 3/4 season tent adequate for summer mountaineering in the Cascades" then the answer is yes, in fact it's overkill.
  18. how long before one shows up in your icon?
  19. Both flowing again, as the accused killers find out when they'll be going to trial. See, like this. This is not even a sentence. Didja ever notice that whackos think they're being oppressed when in reality they're just incapable of making sense to anyone else?
  20. I take it the markings on the ends are no longer there? You can dip it in water and it should be pretty obvious whether it's dry treated.
  21. I think for primarily summer use you should go with something cheaper and lighter. I guess the "fastpack" weight (whatever that means) isn't too heavy but why bother with a convertible tent for the summertime? If you're feeling brave buy a really light shelter (BD Megalite, for example) and save some serious weight.
