  1. Is it just me, or is that sexy?
  2. This thread is *almost* as bad as Squid's War and Peace threadology.
  3. metaphorically those are all hazards of the corporate world. substitute emotional uncomfort for physical. Exactly right.
  4. However, I didn't have enough cash to go through the Starbucks drive-through this morning. Life can be so cruel.** ** ironic sarcasm
  5. OK, so "shut up and appreciate what you have." I get the message. There's just no pleasing some people (me).
  6. I probably wouldn't need it--I would be getting more exercise in the course of providing for myself.
  7. So, I'm back at work, sitting in a windowless office, my whole day's work done on a computer--the life of the modern-day information/knowledge worker. Is this really a better way to provide housing, food, and clothing for myself? As opposed to a couple hundred years ago, when I would grow/raise my own food, perhaps sell some things I produce to others, or trade. Now, somebody pwns my ass, to the point of what time I can start work, eat lunch, etc. In a more subsistence lifestyle gettin' by is more risky, but you yourself are responsible for getting up every morning and doing the work it takes to survive. Consider the robin. Nobody tells a robin when to crap. They are their own GD bird, thankyouverymuch. The flip side is, they spend most of their life looking for food, and expend a lot of energy building a home in which to raise robinlets. Is the tradeoff worth it? The risk of personal responsibility/ability/sufficiency for freedom from control by another? Probably I wouldn't have the time or energy to go to the mountains if I were providing for myself. Putting in 40 hours a week does give a person a lot of freedom outside of work. Just wonderin'...UNCAGE MY SOUL!
  8. Thanks; I think I'll take this route. Thanks, all.
  9. Excellent! That was a stupid law, IMHO. So many of the state parks are used by locals or near-locals (i.e., climbers), that it just doesn't make sense. And people stop in for a picnic, to play, whatever. Good for her. And us.
  10. My annual bonus IS my number of spray posts. WTB: A life.
  11. I liked The Dude in "The Vanishing" -- it was creepy <shudder> Had you had a fight recently? Not a fight, a thing. ...A thing? Yeah, a thing, don't you have a girlfriend? Yeah. And want you think is a thing you can bet your life she thinks is a fight.
  12. I have a rear-wheel drive car now (no snow tires), and it spins out on the slightest incline. Even driving to the upper parking lot at Stevens. Does OK with chains, but they're a hassle to put on, and I've ruined 2 pairs of chains in 2 years. My dad taught me how to drive in the snow, so that's not a problem. I actually enjoy the challenge. I just hate getting stuck, with not enough traction to get where I'm going, or out of the lot after the car's been sitting there all weekend and is buried under 2 feet of snow. So I just need something with great traction, and hp, too. I'm thinking I'll go for a FWD at this point. An SUV would be nice, but it doesn't fit my budget right now. Thanks, all!

  16. I get back $1,027! Boy howdy! Drinks on me? Oh, never mind--I've got bills to pay.
  17. Sorry, I don't speak Swahili. Do you speak English?
