I hope we can learn something from this incident and all become safer climbers in the process. I mean, the guy was 85 years old! That's really pushing the envelope, surely he must have known that someday the hammer was going to come down. You just can't roll the dice that many times without something bad happening.
Perhaps people engaging in this kind of risky behavior should be required to carry some kind of insurance?

Have you ever got drunk and had to call that partner you'd rather not call...but you can't find anyone else to go climbing with you? This is the last person on your list. You're only calling them because you have absolutely verified that no one else can go. It's time to make that booty call to your climbing skank. Oh..and you're not going to be bragging to friends about this trip. Forget the camera at home. You're going harpoon a whale, Ahab.
There is no way Carnival is 10a. If it is, I'm gonna have to hang up my shoes and call it a career.
Granted, the doctor ain't much of an OW climber, but 10a?
Please tell me you are joking - I don't think my ego could bare it.
Bags and TV Guide? Makes sense to me. After I get myself a new bag, I tend to watch a lot of TV. If they really wanted to make a convenient one-stop shopping experience, they'd throw a bag of cheetos into the deal.
