  1. No, my buddy broke his foot ....maybe some other time.
  2. In terms of the work....I know that many of us here would be happy to volunteer some time to help sort the database and do data entry.....just ask. A map based search function would be a start (google earth allows this I think, and could be linked to topographical info?), from there individul peaks/crags anywhere on the planet where there are TRs could be accessed and cross-referenced to route beta. The main page for a peak/crag should have a updatable list of routes with a general outline/description and a place for conditions/route beta.....finally there should be a link to the personal TRs. Whatever you guys end up doing...you have a real opportunity to create something amazing and useable considering the wealth of info here. There are tons of people who use this site who can offer support and help....particularly since this area is such an IT hotbed. With a little tweaking and a logical, interactive graphical interface this database could be one of the more useable on the web.
  3. Hi Timmy, I would love to see a model similar to the one they have on mountainproject.com It is very user friendly. There is so much great information on this site regarding trip reports and beta but sometimes it is difficult to find...... I would hate to see the personal character of the trip reports here get lost, but some middle between the two models would be cool. Perhaps general beta to the areas with direct link to trip report database?
  4. I was wondering if anyone can tell me the story behind the routes on the headwall? Apparently, from looking at the guidebook, most of the hard routes on that wall were either retro bolts of trad leads or projects that never got finished. Did the FA give permission to retro bolt that route "While the Cats Away..."? From the sounds of it the original style of that wall was trad and the various hard bolted routes are in a state disrepair and were never even led.
  5. it's 5.9 ....but could feel harder depending on how you do it.... it's a fun pitch
  6. through all the rain and weather spraying on endlessly forever Wishin' my rack was by my side... All the things I'm missin', Good rock; dry and splittin', Are coming in with the next high Post 'em up, troll 'em up Spraytime! loggin 'in,...uh... Benny Hinn, Spraytime!
  7. Anyone ever had one? I have two very sore ones......I've seen the physio and I'm on anti-inflammitories and ice/hot....but I'd like to hear any stories/tips people have. thanks
  8. I use this one quite a bit, it gives a predictive model for 4 days out.... it's usually pretty good.... http://www.atmos.washington.edu/~ovens/loops/wxloop.cgi?mm5d2_pcp3+///3
  9. Awesome you guys!! What's the postage on all that sending??! :rawk: Great Stoke. BTW the weather is amazing here....if you're a fish
  10. yeah....what's the deal? where's it coming from?...seems like some kinda oscillation.
  11. it's granite....but it's really fine-grained and has alot of pockety-features on the faces made by little gas bubbles and such....it's really solid. ...let's go sometime huh?
  12. Ok Max...no spray was intended, in all honesty.... perhaps no one will accuse me of being overly modest.... and I'm quite aware of where my abilities fit-in in the grand pecking order...but in the context of what gets done around there on a daily basis.... what we did was pretty mundane and the report was made in that spirit, anyway, thanks for the advice!
  13. must have been upgraded? http://www.supertopo.com/rockclimbing/route.html?r=yoraroya ....Its a bit of sandbag at 5.9, not that i necessarily agree with 10b....
  14. trade? next question: what do you want?....I probably have one.
  15. Hahahaha....my wife is Brasilian...she feels the same way about Argentina.... As long as you're considering Seattle....you may as well come to Vancouver....
  16. thats true carl....but say you have a family/life partner/animal friend?....then maybe you want to stay in one place... I've thought a lot about this Tim.....because my job allows me to locate pretty much where ever I want....Spain/Portugual maybe one of the best, but I've not been there. But it seems like you're in striking distance to so much from there... Alps, Norway etc...but the lack of granite in Europe would get me I think. Bariloche was pretty nice....but it would be kind of a hassle to get to Frey for an afternoon... I think Peter Croft may be on to something with Bishop....close to the Valley, Toulmne, Sierras, Joshua, Needles, Owens, etc..... Australia seems like a good choice as well...Natamuk or Katoomba, but the lack of alpine would be a bummer.
  17. The friction in that modified 8 is so high during a high load as to render it virtually static. The fact that you use dynamic cord to make it is its saving grace, that and that you can adjust the pull direction easily when its not loaded. Another problem is that if the wrong arm fails the whole thing extends. It's a good one to know anyway....I've used it quite a bit.

  19. I think the links I just posted at the bottom of the report can give some beta about the season etc....
