  1. Thanks Norman. We knocked it out yesterday. Though not nearly as fast (sans summit too). We left June Lk. TH at 3:45a, went CCW making really good time, jogging most of the flats and enjoying seeing two large (30+) herds of Elk. Then we slowed waaaay down at the S. Fork Toutle. We too missed the otherside of the Toutle and had to climb the crazy eroded slope. The climb up the forested section above that was challenging, but what really seemed endless were those boulder fields. From everythng I had read, I thought there would just be two. But from the beginning of the series to June Lk. TH, I counted 4. We also noticed several fresh piles of half-digested huckleberries, evidence the bears, do in fact, shit in the woods. Back to the car at 4:45 (~13 hrs. RT). Definitely a good one-day trip.

  6. Nice work Norman, you've inspired me. I couldnt tell, did you go clock-wise or CCW? Is one better than the other?
  7. I just found a can of Camo Black Ice - 10.5% (I didn't know Camo went that high!) in the fridge at work. Not sure whose it is, but I'm grabbing it and drinking it at my desk. I can't wait for the drive home.

    UK Bomb Plot

That's the big one for me. I've got to get creative an find some way to get my booze on board. Otherwise it'll be a VERY long flight.
  9. That's fucked up. I wonder what the cougar would have done if he just sat right there, eating the raw meat, laughing and growling wildly between bites.
  10. Talk about fucking thread drift!
  11. 0% on everything. Goats prefer Guiness I'm told.
  12. 10 years?!? It's already too late. Blame Bush. 100%. He's had his finger on every climate change for thousands of years. We've all read the official top-secret documents thanks to the Freedom of Information Act. It's Bush's fault! It's really bad, we're going down. Hard. The National Parks are the least of our worries. Batten down the hatches everyone. I'm not sure why I'm even getting up tomorrow. In the meantime, make sure you fill up with some cheap gas on your way to work tomorrow!
  13. Spent the weekend at Canyon Creek Meadows (via Jack Lk.). Beautiful spot and we had the place to ourselves. Yes, lots of mosquitos, but the meadow is in full bloom now. The route is in as much as it will ever be (which isn't saying much). No snow. Echo the precautions mentioned above.
  14. I have this Alps Mountaineering tent. I was skeptical at first, but I have put it into increasingly harsher conditions and it has performed great. I wouldn't use it where considerable snowfall is expected, but other than that it's a great tent. It's light, easy to set up and has ample room for two adults. I say
  15. Really beautiful pictures, especially the second one. Nice work!
  16. What about near Portland?
  17. Not solved, but it's something.
  18. To help combat those unsightly VPLs, I would highly recommend a fashionable mohair thong. Warm, yet functional.
  19. I don't think so!
  20. Nice work! So, did I miss something, what became of Jlag??
  21. Welcome back Iain! Nice work!

  23. Of all this talk so far, THAT is the best question yet!
