  1. spooky... So is it best to lead on one rope, and drag a second for setting up topropes? Does anyone do that?
  2. Only for 30min of light showers, was a little chilly though . Only enough to slow us down a little! Were you helping out with the Caldwell filming on Saturday(I think) Skyclimb. We saw the rig over on Picnic Wall and heard he and Beth Rodder were signing books at Redpoint. Lions Jaw is a suite route! mmmm, thin stemming is fun!
  3. No, just more curious than anything else. Til now all it's seen are TR falls/takes which don't really count...
  4. Finally have one to add... though it's only a measly 15 footer on about 2/3 of the way up Barbecue the Pope over the weekend pumped out and pitched off. First real lead fall and it was a bit of an enlightening experience. Nice soft catch (thanks Dan!) and nothing hurt beyond my ego!
  5. Had a new experience this weekend and took my first real leader fall (5 m on 15 m of rope?) and was wondering about when to retire a rope. The rope is rated to 6 falls.... so for all you expert when is the appropriate time to retire a rope. After it's rated number of leader falls? or just continually expect it for soft spots, core shots, exposed core etc.? Everyone's thoughts appreciated....
  6. Actually made one of the rope rug/mat's. Looks pretty cool, the hard part is keeping it together though. You almost have to sew it down onto some sort of backing to keep it from kind of falling apart as the coils pop out of position.
  7. Ok, who got some this weekend? Any freshiez? Smith was cool and reasonably dry on Sat. and warm and dry on Sunday, can't ask for anything better! Lets here the epics and good routes.
  8. wtf? Your ego need a boost today or did they not let you in?
  9. yes, but we all know bush can't do anything in moderation.... he'd be a dirtball peak bagger constantly jonesing for his next alpine fix just like the rest of us
  10. neither one would have time to run for president since they'be chasing warm dry rock and freshiez... and the country would be on hell of a lot better off.... cause you know what? Gore would have been president
  11. Nah, definitely worth the occasional drive over! Climbed a couple really nice cracks, even if I don't have a clue what they were!
  12. Yes but is it a tasteful, B&W, Nude, Headless chimbly body jam and or blurry butt shot?
  13. Come on Dryad, you started this threat, pony up and help the man
  14. The first serious relationship was with the Gallway Arms down in the U-district, mmmmmmmmm, still the best Guiness i've ever had, tasted like cream , even managed to convert several hard core light beer drinkers to the good stuff!
  15. So when are you going to publish it.... Every body needs a new calendar come january anyway
  16. How in the world do you define the level you came in at? What you can top rope in the gym? Most people define the level you climb at as either leading it or following it..... And I don't know anyone who started out leading 5.10 off the bat, at least not trad....
  17. web page Wankers. It's only open 4:00-10:00 in the evenings. As for parking, yeah, you gotta pay. Theres a little lot behind the IMA I used to park in after 7:45 of 8:00. I think officially it's always restricted but I only remember getting one ticket at 7:30 or something. There's also the little dirt lot east of the Montlake lot. Would probably be safe there in the evenings without paying, but if you don't want to risk it, then it's $2.00. I don't know of any truly free parking nearby.
  18. At the climbing gym? Doesn't open til 4:00 so lunch is probably out.
  19. So who get Idaho and Wyoming? They aren't really rockies? Oh wait a minute do they make a difference at all?
  20. Also worth considering climbing style, 5.10 cracks are nothing at all like 5.10 face, especially relevant for all you gym rats

  23. Coolest thing I saw recently was freeing and old aid line that was still too difficult to do clean, so two guys freed most of the pitches and then mixed in drytooling with rock shoes on the one pitch deemed to thin to free anytime soon. (thought it was written up in Climbing or R&I a few months ago)
  24. The man other Republicans thing is a right winger?
  25. Were all gawddammed socialist hippies! Even you Republicans! A friend just sent me this and spray was a little slow this morning.... please discuss the many issues, and try to guess my friends political party of choice and state or residence p.s. Does the first post on a thread deserve a ?
