Trip: North Twin Sister - West Ridge
Date: 6/12/2011
Trip Report:
I had stuff to do Saturday at home but didn't want to squander the weekend's weather without something so I called around and got a few bites to do N. Twin Sister.
We opted to ride/push bikes as far as we could.
As it turned out, snow started at about 3800 foot elevation, and our objective soon came clearly into view:
We ascended the "trail" at road's end (4100 feet) but it was all snow:
Soon we started the scrambling - class 3 and 4 on grippy, mostly solid rock:
In some places the scrambling was class 4:
More joyful scrambling:
Eventually our work paid off as clouds lifted and surrounding summits came into view:
With some food and hydration, we began to downclimb the north slope (45 degrees), and lower down glissaded.
After some easy plungestepping and traversing we retrieved our bikes.
The ride out was exhilirating and fast!
Gear Notes:
Ice axe, bikes.
Approach Notes:
Snow beginning around 3800 feet.
