I finally had a chance to use the new BDs this past weekend, and they are pretty amazing. My previous favorite screw was the helix (which i own none of), but these new BDs really up the ante for easy starts. Would like to use them in more ice conditions before I completely commit to them, but the initial test was very promising.

				[TR] Frenchmans Coulouee-Fugs Falls
TrogdortheBurninator replied to suckbm's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
Climbed fugs today at easy WI3 with fun climbing and good gear. Also climbed Frenchmans at scary WI4 with difficult spotty gear. Perfect weather today, cloudy, cold and light snow. Maybe if the cloud cover holds and it stays cold, frenchmans will have a chance to consolidate. regardless, it is worth the drive out there just for fugs. -

testing image upload, help wanted please
TrogdortheBurninator replied to chris_stolz's topic in California
picasaweb is a pain in the ass to use on forums, but it works. on the right side of the photo screen it should say "link to this photo" change the size to something useful like 800 pixels cut and paste the part where it says embed HTML it should look like this delete everything except the address following src=" i.e. http://lh4.google.com/Jason.Killgore/R2amU5M-TDI/AAAAAAAAByo/OaNz5MlNVLM/s800/IMG_3181.JPG embed that address in the tags hope this helps. If cc.com would accept html, you could use the code directly, but it doesnt (or I havent figured it out) so you have to improvise. -

Introduction to Powder - specific advice needed
TrogdortheBurninator replied to Panos's topic in the *freshiezone*
You will learn a lot faster skiing at the resorts. Wait for a powder day, and ski easy powder runs in the area, or in some of the slack country regions. -

Any Info On Synchro Log Crossing?
TrogdortheBurninator replied to Rafael_H's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
So, given that the log is gone, would trudging the north side (slide path and all), or wading from the south side be more desirable? The river looks a bit fast for wading in the photo, is there some slower water in the vicinity? -

				Rumors of ice?? conditions update??
TrogdortheBurninator replied to FBCC's topic in Ice Climbing Forum
climbed white pine drool yesterday. short, but strenuous approach, with deep snow (~2ft with slow shoes) under breakable crust. Track is in now, so approach should be quick. Quite a bit of ice on the climb, with varying quality. Lots of snow on the lower angles sections, but the steep bits are nice. My battery was dead, but jared should have a picture of the wall. -
Cool stuff: http://www.anneskidmore.blogspot.com/ so who is going to ski snowcreek wall, exfo dome or green giant buttress?

nice. i recently submitted a paper to ACSnano, but the editor said it was outside their scope. Submitted it to langmuir instead. It will be interesting to see how the ACSnano journal compares in readership/impact to othe ACS journals like nanoletters. They certainly seem to be making a strong intro.

2: 1 Baker (12/28), 1 Crystal(12/30), both amazing but crystal took the edge when they opened HC late allowing waist deep top to bottom untracked lines directly under the chair at 3 PM.

I hope that I would, but I am honest enough with myself to admit that it would be very difficult. I do honestly believe though, that science will continue its current trend towards dispelling most dominant religious theories.
