do you consider Bachelor big mountian?

Bend - Smith Rock, Bachelor, Mt Hood not bad. Boulder - Eldorado Canyon, Boulder Canyon, Flatirons, Lumpy Ridge, Clear Creek Canyon, and 54 14,000ft mountains. better. No disrespect intended. You can have Bend... but it ain't no Boulder. -

Bachelor's lame. It's like Eldora, Colorado on Valium. And Bend is Boring. But I guess it's not bad for Oregon, which is sorely lacking in the big mountain department. least we got smiff... -
Jim, I just returned from the Dolomites days ago. I went skiing, so don't have a lot of specifics regarding routes (we wussed out and took a pretty laid back vacation.) Arraba's nice... it's just not as easily accessible. I'd suggest Ortesei/St Ulrich. It's well situated and realatively cheap. It's about US $50 to ride by train from Milan to Bolzano, then a US $10 bus ride to Ortesei. I'd avoid renting a car as long as your rack/gear situation is pretty reasonable. It'd be a piece of cake to lug a standard rack and two ropes up there without a rental car. St Christina, which is a short bus ride up the road, may provide better access to mountains like Langkofel or the Sella Group... but there's fewer lodging options. PM me if you have more specific questions. Maybe we'll see you up there this summer!!!

How 'bout Jesus? I met a dog named Jesus in New Mexico. It might offend the the right wingers (even though there are plenty of Jesuses (Jesai? People named Jesus?) walking around today. Or you could pronounce it the Spanish way... "Hay-Zeus" Then you could say: Jesus shat on my carpet. or Jesus puked in my car. or Jesus ate my homework. or Jesus likes it when I put beer in his bowl Just a suggestion.

Grass and rocks. And LOTS of bulletproof ice. It needs another six inches before it's worth doing. It sucks when even the emergency backup option is so bad... But I'm new to the area and maybe that's as good as it gets!

Nice work! Anything we can do to help?

Ha!! My dog actually responds to that name!

Dude... Nice pic! Sunday was aweful. Shoulda gone Saturday. When I say we shuttled... we left a car at Govy and then drove to the top... we were feelin' lazy. If weren't getting blown across the parking lot by hurricane force winds, we woulda skinned up higher...

Mt Hood was GHETTO windy and icy. Awful. Miserable. 75mph gusts at Timberline. We tried shuttling on Alpine and it was bulletproof. Meanwhile... It's perfect back home in Colorado...

El Potrero Chico!!!!!!! This place is absolutely INCREDIBLE!!! You have GOT to check it out. It's mostly sport... but there's a BUNCH of trad potential. The rock's kinda loose in places but the walls are huge and breathtaking. It's just about an hour outside of Monterrey. There's been some disputes over who owns the place and who runs the place lately, but I believe there's a pretty sweet little climbers village near the base still. Just not sure who runs it. Last I heard the guy who owned it got chased out of the country. http://www.rockclimbing.com/routes/listArea.php?AreaID=401

jj221: I do ice climb... but I'll be chillin' with my wife... so I can't. We're gonna just hang and ski. Anybody else buy any of those cheap a** tix?

My wife climbs MUCH better than I do. She's always egging me on and forcing me to push my own limits. And if I freak out on a climb and suck... I get to hear about it all the way home. So I guess the answer is: I'm not threatened by female climbers at all. They can be pretty inspirational. Or pretty. And inspirational.
