    Too Many Kids!

Too bad contraception doesn't start with a "J:" they might have heard of it then. drC
  2. LOL. Hey, French-Americans I've never heard of are not countrymen. Now, while I like Dr Smashed as a name and will probably reuse it (thanks), you guys should consider that klenke had been drinking more (thus his unsure steps compromised his perspective and he thought that I had been stumbling), and is looking for an angle to attract the attention of the pretty blonde who was next to me . He mentioned that some day, he'd like to bag more than peaks . drS PS: It was fun, are you going to be regulars?
  3. Thanks for the math frenchie Hey, you wouldn't believe the number of people who think that you need to divide the rope length by the number of people on it, and not that number minus one. Oh, and for you metric people, they would be ~15 meters apart (minus rope for knots).
  4. If he's buying AT boots, then why the 404s and not something better like Dynafit or even one of the more alpine bindings like Diamir or Naxo? drC - On 188 cm G4s + Trekkers + Alpine boots
  5. I swear these Martinis had been tampered with. drC
  6. 30 m is plenty for 3 people. They'll be 40+ feet apart. Make sure you get the dry Rando if that's your choice, they also have a non-dry. drC
  7. back at you. At least we got Trango, but yes, what can we do with a team of non-climbers who just don't believe that Adams is Adams? My "complaint" would more be like WTF, I know nothing about this country's past, how can I answer these? We'll be back with a revenge drC
  8. I second NOLSe's opinion. I use such a rope (except it's an 8.4 mm from Sterling, but it's the same length). I used it last on Sahale two weeks ago, as a team of 3, and even though the glacier was pretty open at that time of the year, I still felt like I could have added a fourth member on the rope comfortably. RE: prusiks, if using 6mm prusiks on such a rope, make a fourth wrap. Or screw the prusiks and rig those cool Tiblocs (with *slack* always on the sling between the Tibloc and your harness; you don't want to fall on the Tibloc!). Edit: Duh, I believe you've seen that rope and the distance between people, right? drC
  9. There is no way you could be the oldest there. Maybe at the trivia table but not at the Boxcar. Some of the bar fixtures there had a long life. See you there. drC
  10. Look at that. I was going to the Boxcar for Trivia Night with my friends, trying for a second win in a row. So I guess I'll see you there. What'll be your team, snugtop? drC
  11. I use my Maui Jim glasses everywhere (expensive). They are dark, but the most notable thing is that they are coated with anti glare whatever on both sides of the lens so even though I do not have side shields I am never bothered. drC
  12. Most outdoor clothing is bought by the hip wannabee urban types? drC
  13. I have a WM flight vest and if I need more warmth I can top it off with a Patagonia Micro Puff which is synthetic and resists water well; the latter doesn't pack nearly as well of course. But the combination is very versatile. drC
  14. Looks like a sweet pack. I have a similar pack from BCA but with gear slings just on the left side and not detachable. It was (it is discontinued I believe) a great little pack with an integrated insulated 100 oz hydrtion pouch. Does the Grivel pack have decent support for an hydration bladder? I mean a pouch inside w/ something (velcro?) to hold the top, that can hold it pretty well? drC
  15. Thanks! (And thanks for posting in both fora.) drC
  16. I am shopping for one crampon that will do both (I know, I know). Looks like the Sarken would be good for that, and you're saying the G14s may not? Remember, I have the fruit boots for the monopointing drC
  17. How do you like the Sarkens? I was going to buy some but am hesitating because after two redesigns of the anti bott plates people are still complaining about snow getting in between the boot and the plates. They look sweet though, and if I can find the old anti botts I'd buy them immediately. Can you also compare them to G14s? Thanks! drC
  18. Could you weigh it, both with and without the removable back pad? I am very interested in this pack and would like to know the real weight. MEC lists both 390 g and 720 g for the Std pack, could it be that? If so, it'd be a sweet Genie replacement w/o the back pad. drC
  19. I assume you're talking about the Alpinelite 30. I have been looking at it a few times online. There is something weird on the MEC page for the pack. It reads: So, does it weigh the amazing 400g or less, or does it weigh a more expectable 720 g (given the removable padding, patch, etc.)? drC
  20. All right. That sounds awesome. Note to the real alpine climbers: don't forget to leave strings of ropes and crap on the mountain to be a viable candidate for next year's Piolet d'Or ( to them!). drC
  21. Ingalls Peak. Easy, and spectacular scenery. It's a one-day thing but camping close to the lake and relaxing is not one of the worst things you could do. drC
  22. Thanks. I did find salary.com, but it's nice to hear that it's "spot on." BCJ, I sent you a PM. Thanks. She actually filed papers saying she could make $1917 a month. I have no idea where she got that figure, but looking at the people I hire with just a BS CS and no experience, she could make at least $7000 / month. Of course, she'd have to try to find a job. She was too busy spending the temporary maintenance I gave her to look for a job on vacation in Florida, France, and California to have time looking for a job. Ugh. Time to go do some serious climbing to dissipate all that stress drC
  23. That is definitely way below minimum wage. Hey, it's the perfect job if you can stay and work in a home that you just upgraded before filing for divorce, while someone else is sending you half his salary to supplement your lack of income I'll look at the salary reviews online, thanks. Legal forums on Craigs list. I would never have thought of that. I have an attorney anyway because my ex is so litigious she will only speak to me through attorneys. slothrop, email is on the way. Thanks! drC
  24. OK, I have a favor to ask. I am looking for a high-tech recruiter in the Seattle area who could look at someone's resume and give a professional opinion as far as how much that person could earn in the area. Because of the latter, someone you know professionally may be the best thing. Or maybe one of you is a recruiter. I need the favor because I once married someone with a Ph D. in Computer Science who is asking for indefinite support to the tune of half my salary on the grounds that she cannot make more than $400 / month here (cough, cough). A professional opinion re: potential would greatly help me. I know it may be a strange request. It would help me immensely though. Thanks in advance guys and girls. drC
  25. Yes, this doesn't look good. Time for plan B, and a 5th night of partying then drC
