  1. This winter I am going to do much more loadpacking and snowshoeing and rely much less on CF than I did last year. Some CFers do have the notion that CF is the be-all and end-all. I may have thought that once but not after last summer. Great! So, when you go snowshoeing and loadpacking and trekking around....if it's on weekends...will ya let me know? Can I tag along? See..this is what I need! I need to make "play dates" so that I have a reason to go outside and freeze too death!! I won't do it on my own..I can always come up with "a paper to write", "a test to study for", etc. But if I make plans...I can't dog outta of 'em!! So, snowshoeing anyone? Trekking in the snow? Heck..I even have a split board with skins, and I know that's an arse kicker heading up the hills..so yeah?!?! Anyone?? Buheler??
  2. ok. I'm being true to my work-out post..I wanna get in shape! So, any recommendations for hikes/climbs for this Saturday? Not picky..just want to be outdoors...a view would be great, but at this point, I know I can't be picky this time of year!
  3. And I actually have to back Mythosgrl up. I've heard this quite a bit, most recently in Lance Armstrongs 'food for fitness' book by Chris Carmichel. Heck, body for life preaches the same mantra.
  4. Thanks for all the info guys!! I'll definitely look into the cross fit gig. I noticed the east-side has a lunch class...I may look into that. (Yes I work 40+ hrs a week, and go to school 2 nights a week) Time is very...very limited. Definitely the biggest factor for me. Do you know how many of the $15 drop in days I can do? The monthly fees are CRAZY Expensive!! I actually live down south...so if anyone wants to do stuff on weekends or evenings (even though it's dark out)I'm in. It is very true that if you make plans with someone...it's way harder to forget or work late!! It's an excuse to get out and do something...and that is definitely what I need!! Thanks again for all the tips and tricks and advice!
  5. I heard parts of 7 & 12 are impassible due to standing water on both of those roads as well. I'm sure they have detours set up though.
  6. define "intense" cardio? Like...going as hard as you can? If I do that..I for shizzle won't make an hour. So, going as hard as you think you can for an hour? is it better to quit early (and work on extending the time at that intensity) or better to go an hour (at a lower intensity)?? kili and Acon may not be hard...but I've done Rainier a plenty...and that bitch kicks my ass every time!!
  7. alright..guys & gals..it's been awhile, and I can tell it's been while by the enlarged waist-band that I now wear!! So, in my absense..I have ALMOST completed my MBA (yeah!! One more class to go!!!) and also increased my pant size by 2 (not so yeah..). So, I need to get back in shape! I've got big plans for this summer to climb Aconcagua & Kili. I also want to get back into the old rock climbing gig! So, what is your best and most results driven work out? For both the long slogs up rainier (have two of those planned already) but yet won't bulk you up for the rocks? Mind you, I do have a job, working 40+ hours a week....so going out climbing every day isn't really an option....I mean..I've got to pay for my trips somehow!! I'm looking for the after work/weekend activities that produce results! I already eat healthy.and i'm not huge (I went from a size 6-8..so not THAT bad..but still bad!!) so getting back into shape..shouldn't be hard....but I know that there is no way I could make it up Rainier today in this shape!! Anyone wanna kick my arse into shape with me on weekend hikes?? any way to make cardio fun? (I swear I have ADD! I get sooo bored on the treadmill I feel like scratching my eyes out!!)
  8. regardless...it's a good deal on boards...If you're a giant and can swim on a 165...or a midget that can hang on a 145. bummer the options are sooo limited!

  11. yeah..I prefer to climb slower than the rest anyways! I actually enjoy the time on the mt., checking out the view, etc. (As long as we're all stopping in safe places and not at risk for rock fall, avies, etc.). Yeah..I'm in! PM me!

  13. I could be in if there is room for the later August date...let me know. I've climbed it a couple of times, mainly the mule routes...but open to try others as well! would love to partake in some boot camp climbs before hand as well. PM me.

    careful...I celebrated turning 30 for 5 days straight....I think I'm still drunk. I'm glad you only turn 30 once...I don't think I'd live through it again!!
