  1. Hey All, Looking for a second Alpine Ice Tool... something that can be used for plunging and swinging. Has anyone used the Camo Montange Icetool? (On sale for cheap) What did you think of it? How does it stack up to the Shrike? Prophet? Thanks!
  2. No doubt. "No Stemming" => How about, "no lie-backs", "no hand jams" and "no drop knees"? What about "no smearing"? and "no edging"? No mantelling either... fuggit! You can only climb by campusing every move! Anything else is tainted.

    Tough Kid!

wtf if you were a bear would you rather eat fat kid or ricearoni??? Can you imagine the new marketing campaign?
  4. Marylou, I have a Suunto and it totally rocks.
  5. You're right, they are not the same. The arguement you're using ("It's OK, everyone consented") is faulty... this can be observed by looking at an extreme example. Just because something happens a lot does not make it right. Just because your argument is weak, does not mean that hardcore shows are wrong.
  6. Come up the Chiwawa River Valley, hit Fortress and Chiwawa, then cross the ridge next to Red Mountain, climb Dumbell and greenwood. Come out the Phelps Creek Drainage. (a couple miles on the road... car, bike or hike )
  7. Ashw is saying it's OK to do sick stuff to people (like beat on them) if they want you to do it to them... but with that logic, then it's OK to kill and cannabalize people if they want you to... Clearly, it's not OK to eat people, even if they want you to eat them... Looking for someone other than lummox or trask to argue this point.
  8. Dude , you're wrong, and here why: Warning This is Sick
  9. What about false positive reinforment? any thoughts? You do something that has moderate risk over and over and since nothing bad happens, you push that risk higher and higher... eventually it catches you. We all know this, but the old timers all seem to be pretty bold on avi slopes... "I've been on stuff like this 100 times, never had an avi yet!" The insurance example is totally bogus. Insurance companies make money because they pay out less than they recieve, based on their thinking, you should never get insurance because the odds are, you're losing money when you pay them money. But really almost all of us get insurance because we're not willing to be on the losing side of that gamble (2 broken legs and no insurance ---> total bancrupt)
  10. I think #2 is more striking. It is much more crisp.

    "The Deer Hunter"

I've been waiting for DoLittle to pipe in here, with his, "Deer Hunter? That was nothing man- back in the day, the shiz ***I*** lived through man. The 135 lbs skinheads, thrashing like demons, man. That was the shiz."
  12. Speak for yourself, Minxie! You are not the voice of the world. Dolittle - Again I say, This is good stuff. Punk- similar to Fight Club? Similar to Climbing??? Pushing yourself past your comfort level, where pain is accepted and seems inconsequential. It helps put all the everyday, inane BS of the modern world back in perspecitive.
  13. Hey Mountie, Thanks for letting us know where you're going to be, so we can plan on climbing somewhere else to avoid the crowds. Your posts/announcements are appreciated.
  14. With Revenge, I think: "Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father: prepare to die." and also "Is very strange. I have been in the revenge business so long, now that it's over, I don't know what to do with the rest of my life. " see: The Princess Bride, by William Goldan (1987)
  15. Why do both? One or the other should handle the problem.
  16. Q: Daddy, why do you and your liberal ass friends want to roll over like bitches when the terrorist are blowing up our buildings?
  17. Road n' Rock rates the crags around the country: Leavenworth: 4 stars Index: 4 stars Little Si: 4 stars Deception Crags: 4 stars Mt. Erie: 3 Stars Vanatage: 2 Stars
  18. Sounds like some climbs in Europe...
  19. Becky "4th Class" => 5.5 without any pro.
  20. I didn't say that That's what it sounded like you were saying. If not, then I apologize for my misinterpretation. Naw, what I meant was that we should all bring our "set of morals" to the table. Some people will be coming with Morals founded in religion... that doesn't make those morals any less valid then an atheist's morals...
