  1. Feeling sensitive about it? I always laugh when I see some of our more prodigious climbers with "newbie" or "wanker" under their names. Its about spraying, not climbing. Speaking of which, when you coming back to climb? Wedge is still where we left it, (I think!)

No, I mean smoother I guess. There are lines between different shades of blue, like there aren't enough colors available.

    ugly dog contest

I know its an ugly dog contest, but you gotta see this. My buddy's wedding, the best man was a dog (really!)

Geez, I had a whole bunch of stoopid pictures from Alberta, but now I'm gonna burn my camera, and maybe my eyes. Nice pix Distel, way to raise the bar! Is there nothing you can do to ease the blue gradient in the second to last frame above?
  5. Reynauds syndrome. If you google it you will come up with all sorts of nonsense, but it is basically the phenomenom some people suffer in which the circulation to hands and feet is restricted in cold weather. My ex-wife and daughter both suffer, in that they can be dressed warmer than me or my son, and their hands will be white and frozen, even when its not cold out (for us!) My own theory is that the internal thermostat is set wrong. This is probably a genetic thing, that is to say not easily modified through conditioning, though I believe it could be. It is well documented that the blood flow to the extremities is restricted as a body freezes, in order to reserve heat for the vital organs. I see no reason that every person should be set to make this happen at exactly the same temp, and given the nature of variation, there must be extreme outliers. Oddly, my son and I seem to be on the opposite end - My hands don't get colder than rest of me, even when severely hypothermic. My ex and daughter will have ice cold hands even when its barely "chilly" out. As an aside, there is something that is called BAT - brown adipose tissue or brown fat. It bypasses normal metabolic process, I can't remember offhand which steps in the ATP cycle, to change stored energy directly to heat. Apparently most infants have some, and they have found many Finnish lumberjacks have a band of it along the muscles of the spine. (I think the original study was in Finland) The bat fat responds to low temperatures by producing a surge of heat. Back when I went to university, they hadn't satisfied whether this could be induced through conditioning, but I'm convinced it can be.
  6. What - no ice?
  7. I honestly cannot imagine a domestic, even a "political" domestic situation where you need another adults permission to buy a magazine. Did you cheap out on the diamond?
  8. Mountain woMan burgers in Britannia Beach. mmmmmmm..... They take a while to prepare, but you can phone ahead from squamish or lion's bay and order mountain burgers (604 896 2468) - they'll be ready when you get there. Also great fish and chips. Grab a 6 pack in squamish if you want beer.
  9. That's funny! I drove past the Arc'teryx store this morning.
  10. So buy Canadian, and celebrate the grandeur of the glorious north with your next engagement!
  11. Diavik mine, NWT, has many VERY happy employees
  12. Soo.. are our canadian bars the same shit? I don't really like chocolate bars much anymore, maybe that's why. I buy that Lindt bar sometimes, and I like that. Is milky way good choclolate? That was my favorite as a kid, but that's quite a while ago... What kinda bar could we get here that we could apply that recipe too and approximate what is apparently so popular elsewhere?
  13. where did you get one?
  14. start here to upload your photo. Then refer to this

Every opportunity I get. Go out of my way for it.
  16. Ah, yes. Quite the family oriented, christian community, Abbotsford. Maybe they'll let you put some posters up in the gym!
  17. What sticks? Where the hell did you join?
  18. Yeah, if you gotta climb indoors, the social aspect is nice. Except when they get groups of cub scouts or birthday parties. Also, I never seem to do much gymnastic climbing outdoors, and it's fun to go work on heel hooking and dynos and shit. After years of bizarre injuries and basic bodily mistreatment, I find I have to maintain a fairly high level of fitness just to be able to get out.
  19. Well, what choice do you have? Gotta stay in shape, and you ain't gettin younger.
  20. Wow, that Melt Out does look cool. And the approach seems acceptable. Here are some pictures of our trip up Maligne last March.(not the groom for this trip, but me and Dario)
  21. Yeah, I get that every once in a while, but if I refresh the page it takes me in.
  22. Melt Out fits the order, alright. Sorry, should have mentioned that the one day of climbing he's done was in Maligne, and he would like something else. Someone named Josh on livethevision suggests that the avy hazard on the first three pitches of Kerkeslin is nil. What do you think? I hadn't thought of that stuff east of the park. Have you been to Ogre canyon? How about Plastic Therapy?
