  1. Yes. It varies from year to year; I'm pretty sure that with conditions and weather as they are, it's going to be fantastic! I'll tell you for sure next week!!!
  2. Don't know what it's like down there, but I have never been able to rent technical axes in BC.

    Wired Debates

If he was really wired someone would have told him about that fleck of spit in the corner of his mouth during the last debate.
  5. Blanchard, on terminator near Banff, YESTERDAY!

  7. Can't you get a massage in Vegas?
  8. Last year I followed a recommendation from will gadd's book and went with cheap fleece gloves to climb in, and shell over mitts for the belay. Dispose of gloves as necc. (usually 8-10 climbs for me.) You get wet, but stay warm enough, and retain dexterity. Keep a couple pairs so you can change into a dry pair when you are done.
  9. If you break it into monthly payments for the duration of ownership, and factor in resale value and maintenance costs, you will pay twice as much per month to drive a basic new car as opposed to a decent used car. If you can work on it yourself, as Scott suggests you will do better than that. If you could work on it yourself you wouldn't need advice, am I right?
  10. What are some jobs people have had that related to their climbing? I responded to a bulletin board ad for a climber with biology experience once, and spent 2 months collecting insects in the upper canopy of old growth boreal forest along the Peace river in northern Alberta. I had a great time with it, and went from cautiously trying to protect each "ascent" in the first few days to leaping from tree to tree by the end of the summer. I know other people who have had jobs with geology surveys. What other ways have people put their experience to practical use?
  11. Using modern neuro-marketting to refine political imagery. Politics is not quite all sales, no substance, but they'll get there.

    Hobbits!

Maybe myths of little people and ogres might have some basis in our cultural memory, from a time when similar species or sub-species co-existed.
  13. Parking is free at abbotsford airport, but if you fly, then you have to rent, and still drive 2 hours. By the time you get to the airport 1 hour early, fly, land, rent a car and drive to banff you have used 5 hours, and spent more money. 10 hour drive from abbottsford to banff. You can do that after work and still get a decent sleep, spending less money than you would if you stayed home and got drunk cause you're feeling sorry for yourself.
  14. Bozeman? Kananaskis baby!!!
  15. Picture on gravsports. oboyoboy!
  16. hammers on both tools. still hurts, but the marks go away sooner!
  17. Yes, minimum one per month. If Lillooet comes in well, then less driving more climbing.
  18. No jet, prob leave after work and drive most of the night. Hell, you can sleep in the back, wake up in Banff and pretend it was a teleporter!
  19. From lower mainland. Maybe stretch to the 4th or 8th. Film fest, ice-climbing? If cold temps persist over there, I'm going. Have all gear, including an extra set of tools, need climbing partner.

    Everything Breaks

Water will kill it right away or not at all. I had a woman once whose tv had been acting up but started working better after she accidentally dribbled water in it. A few weeks later it started acting up again, guess what she did. What a joke! Anyway, I suspect your monitor probably has plenty of hours on it...

    Everything Breaks

The boards on those run a little hotter than some, resulting in ring cracks in the solder joints and dried out electrolytics. This causes the intermittent problems, til' something more critical pops. If you can easily afford it, replace it. If you want me to rebuild it, I will.

    Everything Breaks

I fix monitors and stuff. Probably not the tube. What brand and model?
  23. A friend says that we might be able to buy body bags from the army surplus store in vancouver. I'm gonna check it out as a bivy sac, what the hell!
  24. http://www.mec.ca/Main/explore.jsp?FOLDER<>folder_id=730459 this is the stuff available internationally. Mec stuff is usually great, and their return policies are fantastic for when the gear isn't.
  25. "Seems like some muthafucka's always tryin to ice skate up hill" Its like a mantra that gets stuck in my head far too often...
