Foamgate might have ended there, had the flowers not sprouted again in recent months in the same area. Schellinger said the new plants grew from seeds scattered during the "original criminal act." Fish and Game agreed. If the plants propagate so easily, why are they endangered? I'm not botanist, but it seems like the littles suckers are fairly hardy.

Dated any new guys in the last week? I have a friend who ended up in the hospital one evening last month after having her drink spiked.

A couple of pics posted here: http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=19483&size=big&sort=1&cat=500 http://www.cascadeclimbers.com/plab/showphoto.php?photo=19484&sort=1&size=big&cat=500 I thought it would be great to have a backup set, but now I think it would be great to donate some money to Kurt's cause. Asking $300. PM me.

I don't know if anyone else has already mentioned this, so please pardon if so... When I first started rapping and was nervous, my very patient climbing partner/mentor helped alleviate my worries and my risk by holding the ends of the rap rope(s). This way, he was ready to either help me control my descent speed as well as able to arrest a fall if I had let go of the rope. Looking back, I realize that this simple action was really helpful not only because it lowered my stress, but also b/c I had someone watching me closely and reminding me how to rap safely while actually coming down the rope.

I'd like to know if I should be preparing for this shin dig. Please PM me if you are certain you can make it on July 22nd. Thanks

A while back, a buddy of mine harangued me for months to take him climbing. He was very proud of his rapid learning curve at the school gym (this is before U of I got its super-sexy new gym, but hey, it had an awe-inspiring collection of mystery-stain mattresses and splinter-less 2 x 4’s for hangboards). He’d even been outside at the world-famous Granite Rock for a lesson in the great outdoors. He wore me down with whining, and I relented and said sure. I dragged him up his first multi-pitch trad climb and by the third pitch he was moving at a pace slightly above that of a mannequin. I was enjoying the sun and letting my mind wander between disconnected, semi-formed dumb-blonde “thoughts”. By buddy heaved himself onto the huge party ledge I was belaying from and started fumbling around with the gear hanging on his harness. I watched him a little bit and absentmindedly said, “You know, I could push you off of here and no one would ever know.” No shit, the guy turned white, then bright red, then purple. He cocked his fist back and just kinda held it there while considering his options. I looked right at him and said, “Hmm, I’m glad I’m tied in to the anchor”. I think that made things worse. I’m not absolutely sure what he did after that, but I think he was trying to tie in while keeping his fist ready for a right hook. It didn’t actually come to fisticuffs, but who could blame him if it had?

Excuse me ya'll, but how is this any different from talking about how you would be sure to put a knot in at the end of your rope on a thread about a girl who died rapping? Not that discussion isn't good--but just some food for thought. RIP to those women and their families. So sorry for their suffering.

...be the first to own one! I'd love to own one, but I don't think I can fit him in the door.

I'll confess, the only thing more utterly pathetic is 4th hand limp dicked qb'ing... ...believe me LD, I get the irony... now why don't we all down 17 pints and take REI hooligan style, be sure to wear your 'life is good' shirts... Those shirts are soooo ghey! I think we should raise money for our war vs. REI by making our own "Life is Ghey" shirts. Or, "Life is Food" and have pics of super fat people on them.

And sometimes voicing something helps alleviate the stress around it. I often say that I hate rapping, and it makes me feel better for some reason. Gravity *really* pissing me off though! And respectfully, RIP Very sad.

The bi-montly suggestion surfaces again. Maybe starting a thread on this suggestion and looking for volunteers might help? Setting up a schedule for people to fill in? Something?

Altitude sickness at moderate gains
archenemy replied to archenemy's topic in Fitness and Nutrition Forum
I am a little confused at to what you are saying here...Sounds like the same conflicted message that I feel might be the case. I have read that past experience is not necessarily predictive of future experience; but my own history seems to show a slow, progressive increased sensitivity to altitude. -

Mid way through (where I got sick) was about 1,500-2000 ft. Heat does make me sick, but it was slightly cloudy and even had a little thundershower yesterday. I've had no alcohol for quite a while, so my system should be pretty clean (too much sugar maybe). You guys ask good questions, thanks for getting me thinking about these factors!
