  1. Off subject, but CBS do you know what Fred is targeting in the Adamants?
  2. Heck of a chance for the administration to grant full pardon to Libby, nuke Iran, and put his own head on Mt. Rushmore. What, will it make him unpopular?
  3. If Cheney had half the balls they say he does, he should pardon a few people durning those hours just to piss people off. Won't he be executive branch during those hours?

While I would always prefer a woman built like Sherri-darlin, I say that without saying that a woman would have to look like that to be acceptable. We are all built/shaped differently.
  5. I would love to bring my kids to that outdoor/climbing wall. cool.
  6. I agree with Catbird on all of this
  7. Are we all dealing with the same definition of "consensus?" To me, it does not require full agreement, merely general agreement with most of the parties involved. Are we using the term differently?
  8. doubt it, but tuesday might. No problem buddy, I will get it to you. Has to be before the 31st, as I am going homeless again for a couple months.
  9. the War on Poverty is a crock of crap and a waste of money, just like the War on Drugs. Net change = zero. Great ROI! _________________________ All a matter of opinion and perspective. Trent Lott would also argue that the civil rights movement was a waste of time and money, and we would have been better listening to strom thurman.

Rather than listen to the words they use, listen to the motivation behind the statement. They were just in a gym with someone who made them look bad. They can either admit failure, or put her down. The comment was not about her muscles, it was about their lack thereof. While we are on the subject, don't you just hate those jerks who climb the hard routes. Darn anti-fat jerks.
  11. If god had wanted my erection to be larger, he would have made you better looking. Now that's funny! I agree, that's funny!
  12. When I assert that Johnson was a decent president, I look at his social issues such as civil rights, war on poverty (yep, we still have poor people, but not to the extent we had then.)
  13. And I am at the apartments on the SW corner of the bridge, where Argonne crosses the Spokane River. If it works for you to swing by and pick it up, just call ahead 869. two, four, eight, seven. I should be around all day if it works for you.
  14. Jed bush was the more serious of the two, and the more intellectual of the two. I would argue that those two factors would have made him a better president. My opinion.
  15. Just my two cents buddy, and not device specific, but I only tied the back up knots to keep me off of "bounce points." Keeping rope stretch in mind, knots to keep me from decking on the ground or on ledges, and few others. Merely my humble opinion
  16. Was watching a show on the Kennedys this morning and was struck by the numerous parallels between Jack Kennedy and GW Bush. Both sought the presidency to please their father. Both made their way through college on less than an academic track. Both had a brother who would have been a much better candidate (but Joe died trying to become a hero). Both seemed to make decisions based upon gut and stubbornness. JFK made his brother Bob attorney General of the US, even though he had never conducted a trial in his life; caring more about the AG’s pure loyalty than his competence. Both had VPs that were almost more powerful then themselves. While Johnson made a decent president after that assassination, I am not sure that we want to see what kind of president Cheney would make. Yep, there were a lot of differences too.
  17. You know Sherri that you will be hearing these lines for months now.
  18. Dmuja, nice post. From the casual observer, what is lacking from Don Ryan and Pope is rationality and civility. Calling people Dorks and posting Pee Wee Herman photos lowers the level of discussion far below any level that educated folks want to partake. Personal attacks typically only return personal attacks. It is probably internet anonymity that gives some folks the willingness to make such personal attacks on good people whom they do not truly know. I fully agree with many points you make. If a guy kept bolting where he was not supposed to, and the climbing community could not stop him and the land managers could not stop him; then let the courts deal with that person too. It is a rarity that the courts are seen as the answer, rather the exception to the rule. I would personally like to even see “a good old ass kicking” come in as a pre-step before turning to the law, but I know that is a minority view. I also agree that merely because your position is the minority position does not mean that it is to be ignored. Our country was founded on the premise of protecting the minority from the majority, and I feel strongly about that principle. But to put forth a minority view takes even greater patience, communication, and temper management. Merely pissing on folks in a condescending manner and professing one’s own superiority as some have tried, will only harden the majority from listening or caring. Most of the folks on cc.com are overeducated people of great character. Treating them that way and honoring them with rational argument will not only gain respect for person, but also for position. Merely my opinion Eric
  19. good advice, I have never heard that before
  20. Funny!! That is the only reason I refuse to watch professional soccer. It just kills me to watch them rolling around on the ground whining. Get rid of the whining and I will watch.
  21. I would not think it is only gym rats transitioning to the outdoors that lack the requisite self-rescue skills, but probably many who started outdoors too. I climb all the time with folks who are going to be in trouble if I get hurt, as will I; therefore I climb to not fall and not get hurt (same philosophy most guides climb with.) I carry nothing extra on my harness, merely figuring that I will make do with whatever I have on me at the moment, and the knowledge of a lot of tricks and techniques. These are all risks that I accept, any of which may bite me in the backside someday. The beauty is that some of us even know that there is a risk, and pity those who do not know that the risk exists. I do, however, think we segregate out the gym rats for bad mouthing, and I don’t think that is the true dividing factor. Gym rats typically transition at crags where there are others to help if there is a problem. It is the guy who heads backcountry without knowledge that is the problem child. Merely my opinion.
  22. Yep NYC, Spotly gave me the go-ahead to pass the gear on to you. PM me some details of how to get it to you and I will make it happen. E
  23. Beautiful kid. Hard to believe that someone so innocient will someday be spraying pick up lines on the internet.
  24. If a woman ever said to me, "How would you like me to support you while you climb every day?", man, she would have me immediately!
  25. Well argued.
