Ok, so what do you seriously think will be some of the major pieces of legislation that the republican-controlled federal government will try and get through during the next 4 years? Where specifically will the agenda be? Don't just make some jackass comment either, the election is over and there isn't a thing we can do about it.

Paul, what are you talkign about? I never said that there weren't a lot of republicans in washington, a check of the registered voters would tell anyone that. I've also lived in VERY rural Eastern Washington, and I understand how our state is a microchosm of the nation as a whole in terms of population distribution and politics. All I was saying in my original post is that most of the blue states would seem like decent places to live (excluding SoCal and mid atlantic) but most of the red states would be places I'd hate to live (excluding the northern Rockies.)

Would anyone out there ever choose to live in a "Bush State" (apart from the northern Rockies?) Seriously, I think the Kerry states, with maybe the Rockies thrown in, should concede. Bush States are definitely the crappy ones.

I plan on learning how to ride a bike, not doing anything too extreme or hardcore, would putting tires on my wheels give me a big advantage over riding on the rims? Leave the tires off squid, we know you are all about the rim job!

So I have a pretty large gift certificate to a local outdoors ski/bike/climb shop. I usually make most of my large purchases online, to get better deals. However, now that I can only spend this cash in a local store, I need ideas for what to use it on. Are there certain items that you all typically purchase "hands on" or where yo can test them out, versus just online? I'm looking to upgrade my aline ski setup to A/T with a purchase of bindings and skins (possibly AT boots, but not sure how needed they'll be. Any ideas for stuff that you feel is best to "try before you buy" or that you can't get a better deal on by looking around the net?

I have som atomic R 11:20 aline skis, which are fairly heavy, although I like them a lot. Would it be a bad idea to put AT bindings/skins on these and use them in the backcountry due to their weight?
