  1. ...don't think I-205 borders the Cirque though.
  2. Without the pioneering spirit of these ladies, we might never have had Annabelle Bond!
  3. And on that note, anyone want to buy a 4x12 or 4x4 section from me now that i've cut my piece out of crazy's gift? . Thanks a lot crazyjz, it arrived in the mail today. IF you are ever in bellingham, or are looking for a climbing parter, here's one that will be sure to provide for & on any outing with ya.
  4. Dirty, where are you going from? I'd love to go, but i'm in bellingham and carless.
  5. Allison, how's your tyvek floor holding up on the snow? I'm not Allison but I do have a couple of footprints that I use that are tyvek. I have had good luck with them on the snow. I did have one time last year that I got a little damp but then again it was in the upper 30's low 40's and every thing wa slowly melting. Over all I have been pretty happy with mine. I may have a piece you can have Blake how big you looking for? Roughly 8'x4' I guess I just want the lightest stuff that is fairy cheap, tough, and waterproof. I had presumed that this was tyvek, but maybe i'm wrong.
  6. Not if that means i'm gonna be wet when I sleep on snow and wet ground. Allison, how's your tyvek floor holding up on the snow?
  7. I'm lookign to buy a sheet of tyvek (4'x8') to use as a floor for my beta-light. Anyone have a dealer? If this isn't really doable, anyone have experience with Integral Designs Siltarp 7oz $60?
  8. I wanted to see who showed up to the Bellingham Pub Club at Wirlwind's house a few months ago, but the thread seems to have disappeared. There were great HC pics as well. Even google didn't cache it. P.S. 7:00pm Thurs 1/20 @ Casa Que Pasa for those interested.
  9. Does the 10 extra potential meters in length per pitch and on rappels for alpine really make itself worth the extra carry-in weight in your opinion? (roughly 1.5 lbs)
  10. I picked up a ~3000 Cubic Inch Mountainsmith Phantom on closeout for about $60. It has ice axe loops, gear straps, removeable top and hip belt, hydration campatible pouch, and only weighs 2lb6oz. It's the past year's model. http://216.239.63.104/search?q=cache:4z-...blue"&hl=en
  11. 60m available anywhere? Also, If i go with the 60m single and a rap line, how much longer does the rap line need to be than the dynamic rope to account for rope stretch as i get towards teh bottom? (assuming the knot is centered at the top)
  12. I think you mean Mammut Revelation. The Revelation and the Bluewater Dominator seem to be tied for the 2nd lghtest single, @ 55 g/m. One downside to the Joker is that I can't find it (60m) for sale anywhere in the US.
  13. Looking for your rope input here. My current situation: I've got a 10.3mm 60m for cragging, but it's too heavy for alpine and glacier slogs, so I'll need to invest in some more ropes so i'm not dependent on others. After going over different rope systems for alpine climbs where there is a substantial approach and snow/ice crossings are likely, I think i've decided upon one of the two options. Mammut Twilight Twins 60m 7.5mm total 76 g/m or a Beal Joker (60m, 9.1mm 53 g/m) and 6mm static rap line (23 g/m), these weights come out as a tie. After paying for 70m of static line, the costs for both is about the same as well. I've never used twins before, so I don't really know what to expect as far as dealing with rapping/belaying 7.5s. Anyhow, advice or ideas would be great to get. Pretty much my priorities for this are weight, function, and cost. A couple other bits of info: that Beal Joker is certified for use as a twin or half rope as well, and comes in 70m. If full-length raps aren't as important as some make them out to be I could just go with this, and forget the 6mm static. If I went with the 7.5s, I think I could use just one of them for any glacier stuff, and so I wouldn't need to get a "glacier specific" rope somewhere down the line. Thanks all.

    Cheap Rip-off of "Rushmore".
  15. Great trip and reports. Congrats on having your photo featured on the summitpost page as well. I wonder how many of those slings Kelly gave you came from users of this site, looks like a pretty vast pile. Did she say what will become of them, and any other booty gear the NPS cleans? Do they usually leave one or two per established rap stations, or does that violate "leave no trace"?
  16. Nice picture. Your date is a little off, unless you are planning to do the same thing again. I've also heard that those times you suggest are a little slow, but that was a from a sketchy character with a freakish devotion to his yellow lab.
  17. Joseph, I think you just need to expand your secret stashes of perfect fitting rocks, and you'd have ready-to-go anchors all around beacon.
  18. I usually use the bottom piece of an opposition placement merely to keep the top piece in place. For example: I've got a totally bomber chock of some type that will hold any downward pull just fine, but if it is able to walk up/out i wouldn't trust it. I'll stick a nut or cam or something down below and then clove hitch both pieces together, and then maybe tie a fig-8 on a bight or something with the remaining sling length and clip that to the rope. In this case I think elastic to maintain tension might be very usefull. I'm not sure how easy or practical it would be to tie elastic cord between various pieces while on lead though, but I guess if you have a good enough stance to build an anchor with pieces in opposition, you probably are pretty stable right where you are.
  19. Anyone ever climbed Glacier Peak coming from the west or northwest? Specifically from Image lake or anywhere on the upper Suiattle River? Edit: not this time of year. June-September
  20. They don't care about FAs, they want only speed! E's PArrot is the new Caddis.
  21. Wow luke, I PMed you to see when you were leaving just so I could organize a "going-away" pub club. Now I came to the events forum to post it, and you already beat me to it.
  22. One's a flamboyant, sqwaking nuisance that makes messes wherever it goes. The other... a parrot. Happy B-day
  23. I think Mt. Vernon would be an ideal place to live for climbing areas within a day's drive.
