  2. There was plenty of snow last Friday to get all the way down to the lot (no exposed dirt patches anywhere).
  3. An axe was helpful when we were there on Friday. The skis/board were nice in the bowl too.
  4. ...take up kayaking.
  5. Ditto what Jay uses - works like a champ - stuff doesn't get wet. I have a bias against the backpacks...if you pack them too high, the back of your helmet hits them and makes it hard to look up whereas the messenger bags ride low.
  6. Archenemy: Check out the Cascade Bicycle Club message boards - lots of helpful posts for commuting, likely someone that shares your commute route posts on there. There are some real long distance commuters on there too. They aren't too keen on spray though ;-) http://www.cascade.org/Community/Message_Boards.cfm Watch out for on the road.
  7. Wanna Pepsi?
  8. Not to mention Edith Keeler nearly stalling our whole intervention in WWII from the get go. Such a misguided babe.
  9. I was reading about the Cheney incident today and how beers may have been consumed, but noticed that he had 2 DWI's in the 60's in Wyoming. Which got me thinking, how drunk do you have to be in Wyoming in the 60's to get arrested for drunk driving? I thought if you could keep the truck sort-of between the lines in Pong-esque fashion, you were cool. To paraphrase comedian Jim Gaffigan's bit on Presiden Bush's DWI in the 60's (voice of cop) "you're drunk, you're hammered......now drive straight home."
  10. Kayak on the rainy days when you can't climb. Unless you start kayaking on dry days too. And in the winter. Summer too. Oh, and spring. And any time the Wenatchee is running. Sigh, I miss climbing sometimes.
  11. Please allow me to introduce myself I’m a man of wealth and taste I’ve been around for a long, long year Stole many a man’s soul and faith And I was ’round when jesus christ Had his moment of doubt and pain Made damn sure that pilate Washed his hands and sealed his fate Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name But what’s puzzling you Is the nature of my game I stuck around st. petersburg When I saw it was a time for a change Killed the czar and his ministers Anastasia screamed in vain I rode a tank Held a general’s rank When the blitzkrieg raged And the bodies stank Pleased to meet you Hope you guess my name, oh yeah Ah, what’s puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah I watched with glee While your kings and queens Fought for ten decades For the gods they made I shouted out, Who killed the kennedys? When after all It was you and me Let me please introduce myself I’m a man of wealth and taste And I laid traps for troubadours Who get killed before they reached bombay Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But what’s puzzling you Is the nature of my game, oh yeah, get down, baby Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, oh yeah But what’s confusing you Is just the nature of my game Just as every cop is a criminal And all the sinners saints As heads is tails Just call me lucifer ’cause I’m in need of some restraint So if you meet me Have some courtesy Have some sympathy, and some taste Use all your well-learned politesse Or I’ll lay your soul to waste, um yeah Pleased to meet you Hope you guessed my name, um yeah But what’s puzzling you Is the nature of my game, um mean it, get down Woo, who Oh yeah, get on down Oh yeah Oh yeah! Tell me baby, what’s my name Tell me honey, can ya guess my name Tell me baby, what’s my name I tell you one time, you’re to blame Ooo, who Ooo, who Ooo, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Oh, yeah What’s me name Tell me, baby, what’s my name Tell me, sweetie, what’s my name Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Ooo, who, who Oh, yeah
  12. For a devout follower they may believe that perhaps not adhering to the tenets of your religion in a time of crisis might invite further crises.
  13. Say what you will about the tenets of national socialism, at least it's an ethos. Sorry - couldn't resist.
  14. The Reverend Horton Heat
  15. Bauhaus (instead of the obvious song - "Stigmata Martyr" - Peter Murphy chanting in latin) Aphex Twin - "Come to Daddy" (will scare kids) Type O Negative (pretty much any of their songs - "Black Number One" is a good example) Screaming Jay Hawkins "I put a spell on you" The Doors - "Strange Days" The Misfits - "Mommy, can I go out & kill tonight?" (Glen Danzig - creepy - oxymoron) I am sure there are some really good ones that will come to me later that will show up on a nice Halloween mix. Wouldn't mind finding some good Robert Johnson tunes or other Delta bluesmen - heavy stuff from just a voice and a guitar.
  16. I have the Option WP. A couple downsides: no viewfinder, which sucks on sunny days, and no lens cover, so be prepared to occasionally de-smudge the lens. On the plus, it is nice to not have to worry about it getting wet. It takes pretty nice quality videos too. I have a 1 gig card (<$60 on Newegg.com) and can get close to 30 minutes of video on it. No complaints about picture quality - but I am no auteur.
  17. Showing my naivete here: why use a single speed? I had a co-worker that used to race on them and said that a number of bike messengers were at the track, so maybe its a good workout for the race? They seem gawd-awfully tough to ride...cool looking though....some guy posted once on a bike BBS that it was a pure form of bike riding. True dat? I just squeak (literally) along on my 15 year old steel frame MB and really can't relate to carbon-fiber guy or single gear guy. You all end up passing me anyway. I do take some small guilty pleasure in occassionally passing carbon fiber guy though.
  18. Not to mention that they are the same ones that fill Craigslist with their one year old "used" gear that the rest of us pick up at a nice discount.
  19. I can't believe someone hasn't chimed in yet on Polish climbers.... Oops...reading comprehension slow after lunch....
  20. - Visqueen - pretty poppy, guitar driven, female lead, a happier Hammerbox.... - Kings of Leon (despite being featured in the Jetta commercial) I got the new Bright Eyes....maybe I need to listen to it a few more times, but it seems overly hyped. Then again, I never got into Dylan either.
  21. I'll wade into the treacherous waters here....I wouldn't condemn the guy because he said his client was innocent - if in fact he said that (I think his argument was that the prosecution could not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that OJ did it). At any rate, any lawyer, even post-trial is going to say the same thing as Johnnie. He'd be an idiot and would be violating all sorts of ethics rules by saying later on something like "well, that sure was a load of shit I dropped in front of the court". It might even give the DA enough to re-open the matter and push for a new trial. A pot shot might be more appropriately aimed at the prosecution or the jury. Mainly the jury.
  22. Read this off the Summit at Snoqualmie website today: 3" of new snow in the last 24 hours and a 7" base. We still need some more before we can get back on the slopes. Snow showers are forecasted over the next couple of days. We haven't given up on winter yet.
  23. Good: Sublime - Smoke 2 joints....sorry, it was my 4:20 tribute
  24. Tesla...."Signs" Sucks - actually the cover wasn't half bad...but out of principle, 80's hair metal bands other than the Crue suck.
  25. Good cover: The Dead Boy's "Sonic Reducer" by Pearl Jam....although Vetter can't snarl with nearly the ferocity as Stiv Bator did (RIP)
