  1. we did the walk off to the climbers left yesterday, and couldn't recommend it if there is a rap option. had rapped into to ROTC before, we were a group of three then and couldn't remember if we used two ropes to do it. so you can reach the VW rap fine by walking over at the top of the cliff from another climb? we would have gotten lost on the way up but for the sign directing us to Midnight Rock up near the big split in half boulder!
  2. still here and still free. first person by gets them.
  3. now, now pink_chalk! i don't think those guys deserve to be called "round heads". just under a grand for Washington Climbers Coalition? Not to bad for an effort not even in this state!!! sorry i missed it (yet again), next year! i'll try to make sure those kegs don't get neglected. nice job on pulling it off yet again, john.
  4. Where is the TR??? We need some pictures! Who won?
  5. we will be hearing about that one from the paper print rags. one thing about posting your TRs first here is that it doesn't pay the bills.
  6. ah ok! now we're getting somewhere!
  7. I'm sure the people who climbed something like that, yet choose not to post about it here (or share it with the periodical of their choosing) are happy you are sharing this info in spray on cc.com! You heard it here first!!! From John Frieh! Congrats you people who freed the Thin Red Line! Thats a pretty awesome send! Congrats to John Frieh for knowing that you did it and having the first post about it on CC.com!!!!

  11. What is the easiest way off to Midnight Rock with a single 60m rope? (back to the base of the ledge under VW). Is there rap anchors at ROTC? Will a single 60m rap from the tree above ROTC reach the ledge?

Indeed. Seattle has weathered such an occurrence before...remember Seafirst bank? But the scale this time is much different.
  18. getting back to why McCain really screwed up with his pick...undeniably one of the most important first decisions a person who wants to be President must make....which aside from teenage moms, name calling, and the real truth behind such dirt as "troopergate", is the REAL story: http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/ it seems that even Conservatives that initially backed the decision to pick Palin are calling for her to step down as they get to know her.
  19. i truly envy your job from my office (they let me from my cubicle last year) i'm just saying that it truly is a matter of perspective. while i wouldn't try to compare say....the great pyramids to the columns of Vantage, the fact is that humankind has had a huge impact on our natural landscape. in the eyes of some (such as yourself) it has been a ruinous impact. in the eyes of others it is a magnificent tomb carved from stone or a fun, bolt protected arete. anyway, carry on the good fight! as we both well know, our few words here won't have a significant impact on either the natural decay of all things man-made and their return to a "natural state", nor will they stop the bolts. And as an advocate for your point of view, I admire your tirelessness! I also wish on some days that my work took me outdoors.
  20. only if you promise not to permanently ruin the ruins by digging them up and shuffling through them.
