jeez. with an ad like that, it might as well say "will trade climbing gear for meth" instead.

interesting side to this conversation is the movement to and fro with the climbing community reporting climbs vs. not reporting climbs. reporting a first ascent vs. not reporting. why do you climb? are you a "soul" climber, just doing it for yourself, no other reason? not that there is anything wrong with that. or are you promoting what you do for any reason (feeding your ego, getting sponsorship? or are you just sharing information you think others might want?). in "the game" this board sits somewhere in there, along with "hotflashes" and the rest of the climbing media. we are "user publishes" vs. an editorialized medium, but there are few differences beyond that. in the end i don't care about the egos or whatever drives you all to post your exploits here...just that you do. if you choose not to, fine, but the reality is that is why we are all here. the author is pretty awesome though. he WAS sponsored, but decided that he didn't want to play the game anymore. bully for him. the game/bs/etc will go on without him.

Some bad news here folks. Steph and I really tried to make this happen, especially in light of that obvious interest in the poster, but unfortunately we're going to need to put the project on hold for a while. Steph is starting school again and doesn't have anytime, and I'm helping put together Sausagefest. We are pretty sure that we can make it happen, but until Steph and/or I can free up time to deal with it, it will be on hold. It may seem like a simple task to do it, but the logistics with funding, printing, receiving payment for, and then distributing the poster is more work than you'd think, especially when your schedule is already pegged out. We're committed to getting a quality product out, so look for the poster happening in the future.

[TR] South Early Winters Spire - South Arete 10/10/2009

thanks. pics can be fixed by ensuring that the url points to the actual image, instead of the webpage where the image is found...i.e. the url will end with ".jpg" or whatever format you've got. -
come on grandpa. this is a kill or be killed world, designed for utmost efficiency. don't get all liberal on us.

that has to be one of the more bizarre arguments i have ever read. last i checked people are still killing each other all over the world, and i'm fairly certain that if these parties are trying their best to get the biggest bombs they can. just look at Pakistan right now...Al Qaeda could have nukes soon. regarding the argument that "might is right" and bombs=peace...this might work in the world of superpowers, where it is China, the Russian Mafia State, and the USA pointing nukes at each other...but the conflicts of late (i.e. the Twin Towers coming down, etc) could be made insanely bad with the introduction of the bomb. our having lotso bombs isn't going to deter this threat. unfortunately we might be looking back at the days of living in fear of a cold war with the Soviet Union as the "good old days". rather a gloomy post, so i thought i would add a pic of a unicorn to cheer it up

How many of us could that have been? I'm certainly not an actor though, but I have always have been someone who could appreciate one. He sounds like someone I would like to have known. -

What is that white stuff on Geoff's face? Would you recommend this climb as a cure for a hangover? Where are the pictures of Colchuck Lake? -

i'm glad that obama won the peace prize if for only the reason we are now having this debate: Is peaceful human existence possible? Or do we live in a constant state of skull fucking each other? Unfortunately there is a lot of history written for the latter. What does seem lame is to just give up the idea that peace is obtainable.

i remember living in a cave, and fearing those bastards with their clubs who might come take my fire. hopefully the children of today can learn these lessons.

well of course. maybe we can build more nuclear bombs, even more powerful ones than the ones we have today. then we'll win the war for sure. [video:youtube]wxrWz9XVvls i agree with you. we'll never stop our caveman ways.
