The"mechanically in your favour" refers to its ability to reduce rope drag on a climb where you are z ing out your gear....which makes sense + think how much easier it will be to pull your self up to your last piece of pro after taking a whipper!

The transition of climbing stores to mainstream is standard and always has had this sort of backlash from foundational customers. This same transition happend with skateboarding in the 80's. Vision streetwear etc.. was for skateboarders, but as the skate scene became popular - Vision went way to mainstream and became the enemy of skaters. For better or worse - this is capitalism, so stop your crying!

There are many stupid habits that are formed at 38 Draws for TR - Rungs only for rapping

Have you checked out Armond DeBuque's Ultimate Telemark Binding? They come with crampons. I think they are scary.....and so did the AT skiers who skied mowich face with him....but hell he skied mowich face! http://www.telemarktips.com/UTB.html

The sale was sureal...it was like that wave that surfers are always looking for. Between the six of us that were there when the store opened - we cleaned them out of about 15 full sets of metolius and BD cams, portaledges, pitons, quickdraws..... The only sad part was watching how bummed out some of the store employees were to see all the gear go for so cheap.

I am 100% northwest boy and feel like crap as soon as I hit 9,000 feet. Sometimes I pop Advil lower down to dull the pain - but I can't figure out how to deal with the nausea. My only solution is to keep moving. anyone have some good drugs????

I tried to make a sled and was finally given a sled made by Chariot from BC. It skis awesome. The basics of the design that made it better were - tracking (it uses skis no a sled base this also reduces friction), control (use parallel poles that are bolted to a waist harness and are rigidly attached to the sled with a 130 degree bend to harness). anyway check them out for design ideas

and snow shoes should be called slow- shoes

Ticks suck....but bites are worse....I was camping in the Icicle a few years back and woke up to a strange pain on my unit - I yanked my pants down and found a carpenter ant taking a bite of my man flesh.

Dynafit rulz.......and you must be skiing a long board - or be too skinny, because tele boards are way to soft for my taste. I rando and tele and can't stand tele skis for either......of course I like short skis and I am too fat. Atomic and BD are just finally coming out with some tele boards with balls - that is that are stiff enough for really skiing anything challenging.

you are a dirty yuppy........and I want to be just like you.....I want one....I want one

The gear-whore/light weight slut in me was aroused by this new toy. It would be funky to ski with though.

Good eye, dude. Except her gear is marked differently and I know schnitzem (there can be only one). Thanks for backing me up Greg! No I did not steal the rack.....watch were you point fingers!

Volken suggests this as a ski, were/are the conditions favorable for that?

Somone burned a friends truck a few years ago in the basin while they were out climbing. By the time they got back it was totally smoked. There seems to be some wierd cult crap going down - anyone remember the cult that was going around sucking farm animals blood in the area?

Follow savaiusini's link that he posted above. ^^ Are there mixed ice routes in there..or is it really chossy?

This experience brought back a number of similar memories for me. I am very interested in peoples take on anxiety attacks post-climbing trips. I have had a number of close calls and now even years later I catch myself day dreaming ....imagining that I am falling off a ledge, or taking a big aid whipper, or water ice is heaving below me....and I get a minor anxiety attack. What is this? I am usually a very carefree - mellow - stress free person. I have always thought climbing experiences whether good or bad at the time, make us stronger in the long term? ........or are climbers damaged goods?

I get the idea that no one likes Rat Creek....but looking up it last Winter gave me wet dreams about the turns that could be made on the way down....that and the slope looks steep, but maybe a good grade for skinning up on tele gear.???? ???

Anyone know the best aproach to the Enchantments in Winter? Trying to figure out a way to haul in ice climbing gear and skis for a 3 day trip around the north end of the Plateau...my initial thoughts were to get a snowmobile and drive up eightmile to Colchuck TH....then I thought why not go straight up Rat Creek. Any ideas...bad experiences etc..

I was actually thinking about all the contractors that will be getting "fat" off the 50 million dollar construction budget.

Most of the old tunnels were built by blasting...which would undermine structural integrity, the new design would be bored. If you have ever placed a bolt in granite, you can appreciate the scale of a boring project such as this!

I also think it very humerous that the local Philanthropist and supposed spokesperson for the Alpine Lakes environment - Harriet Bullitt is supporting this. Although a huge supporter of environmental causes....she has much vested interest in a population increase...with benefits going to the Sleeping Lady Retreat. Not to say that she has not done a lot of very good things for the area.

Other than the fact that Leavenworths population will explode and all the classic climbing locations will become novelties in wealthy peoples back yards...and permits to climb Prusik Peak will be a 3 year back order process with a guide required....and little Bavaria will become like Jackson Hole.........I think it is great! Especially if they are hiring!
