I'll take credit for "conservative beefcake", that was something put there at my request.....but I have to say my hat's off to whoever added "fucktard"....it just flows so much better now!

It's my understanding that he is going to stay in the race as long as the campaign dough holds out. It's the principle thinger dealy.

Heh, police called a couple hours ago. Picked up my beloved old s00b about 6 blocks from home, minus her (new) CD player, some burned CDs, and my parking change. The guys were nice enough to leave my Forest Pass, my Serengeti sunglasses and strangely they didn't steal my slowshoes. They also were nice enough to park it in someone else's off-street parking so it would get called in ASAP. The locks weren't broken, and they left it locked. Must be that notorious Seattle politeness thing. Could have been a lot worse.

Always been my favorite candidate in terms of what he stands for. I'm not just saying that because of what Roark said. I really mean it. I think it'd be really neat if someday the US were progressive enough to elect a guy like DK.

Woke up this morning to find my s00b had been stolen while I slept. If anyone sees an '87 SW, light blue, Yakima bars on top and a bumper sticker in the rear window that say "Regime change starts at home" please feel free to call the cops. They suspect it may be in Everett due to a stolen car found close to my house this AM. Only cool part of the story: officer who took the report was nice enuff to drive me into work this morning. We had t make a stop to deal with a crrime in progress, my cop lady cuffed the dude and handed him off to the downtown guys, all while I watched from the car. It was like being on "COPS."

No BO. Dude did not get the hint though. It was Delta. Let this be a lesson to all of us that getting your seat assignment in advance is good, otherwise this same sitchmo could have happened with me in the dreaded middle seat or the uber cramped window seat.
-
Dude at least I was in the aisle seat. If I sat stock still with one arm over my head to narrow my width a bit, he hardly ever touched me with his gross ampleosity. Naturally the flight was full too.

Shouldn't people be required to buy an extra seat (or one for two fat people) if they are too friggin' fat to sit in the airplane seat? YOUR fat should not be MY problem. Damn glad it was a short flight.

Hi, just back from the show. This was my third time. It's getting easier now that I know the lay of the land, and the modus behaviorus that is the show. Very busy one for me. Really only got to see what was on my schedule, and not a lot more. So, what's new: As expected, more different things with softshells. More hybrids, laminates, insulateds. You might think they are a whole lotta hype, but the gear business at least is having a hella good time playing with the technology. Also "look, we added a hood." Tons of mfrs using the welded seam technology. The seam welding machine people had their deal there, did demos, pretty cool. Everything is DWR treated. Everything. SD does have a new tent, forgive me for not having my press stuff yet, but I'd swear it's not sil. Looks straightway like nylon. It does have CF poles, first tent to do it, and claims to be the lightest weight 3 season freestanding 2 wall tent on the market. At 3# 15 ounces, it's just a quarter pound more than the new REI Quarter Dome, which also has the added benefit of having 2 doors, and it's already in stores. Got a meeting with Montbell. Loved EVERYTHING. For the fast and light, it is the freaking BOMB!!!! The new MSR slowshoes, if they work, are going to turn slowshoes on their ear, so to speak. Nothng like any slowshoe you've ever seen. Very cool. Malden/Polartech has a lot of really cool looking technical fabrics. Sounds silly, but if you live in the stuff, it's nice if it looks kinds groovy as well. If you like that Monkey Fur stuff Malden does for Patagucci, you'll love the new loopy version of the Fur they are doing for Mountain Hardware. The new OR handwear is really nice. You might have seen some of it in stores already. Pro Ski has some, and so does Wapiti Woolies. Unfortunately my schedule and the focus of the magazine didn't allow me to go look at the stuff over in the climbing section, or much of the ski stuff. I'm sure as others find their way home, they can fill in those parts. Sorry I can't add more on the super gee-whiz side, I just didn't have time to troll for cool stuff, sadly. I did get a chance to get nice and beered up at the Mountain Hardware party. Ol' Fred was there, in fine form. The guy I was there with, a guy from Colorado, didn't know the story on FB, so I gave him a condensed version of who FB is and then watched as my friend's eyes widened in amazement at F's rather uh, well, aggressive technique with the ladies. I actually tried to get a snap of the man in action on the dance floor with 2 of the fine fillies from Mountaineers Press, but there was not way to be sly about it so I had to abort mission. All in all a very fun and productive trip for me, but I'll never go for only 1.5 days again, and I'll never, ever go to the winter show and not ski again.

Tell you next week!

Siesta is my most favoritest movie of all time. It's a very strange movie with a bunch of cool actors and people in it. It's unique, and hard to explain. Can I just say see it?!
-
seems crazy but it works.
-
And Klenke, I'm sure the class will be fascinated by your parallel between the capture of Saddam and the capture of Osama. Care to explain that one?

Lot of Thievery Corp lately. Today I was enjoyng The The's excellent Dusk until it started skipping on me. Probably wore the darn thing out!
-
But...that Revivex stuff is the shizzle for DWR fabrics.
-
No, as a person similarly newly acquired with AT gear, I see nothing unusual about this aversion. All of a sudden, sLowshoeing seems like a lot of work.

I would agree that Bush is straying from his conservative base, but would contend that he is straying to the extreme right both on the domestic and foreign policy fronts.
-
Not going to be there long enuf to ski. But I will eat a lot of Go Zaps if you let me...check PMs. My trip is so short this time I wasn't able to leave any time to eat.

Muffy is my friend. She is an absolute doll. She is not an economist. Furthermore, at least in her current situation, any viable flat tax scenario would cost her more of the collective tax burden than she is already shouldering. Tax reform is really complicated, and that's why we've had a sort of fucked up tax code for like ever.
-
Sorry to hear about it. That sucks. If you can hang tight for a few days, there's a reasonable chance your buggy will be recovered, as the cops prolly told you.
-
Matt, you make a good point. I have abraded and snagged things that shouldn's have been abraded and snagged in my day. I am however, kind of a lightweight fanatic, and I don't much care for cotton as a technical fabric either. Just looking for a little input on fabrics within this whole gamut of 'softshell' that may or may not have stood up to this sort of thing in the experiences of others.

I love the Canadians. Thanks Murray, well put.
